To me, one of the silliest things that people like to do is to buy fishhead curry :)
They're severely overpriced xD
You can buy a fish-head for $2-$4:)

Another silly thing is to eat cod fish at a restaurant:)
They give you one small piece for like $20 or something. hahaha. baka.
yes, codfish is expensive. but if you buy at the market, it's definitely cheaper. LOL. $20-$24/kg if you buy it at the market. $18-$22/kg if you're my father's child:)

there was a time codfish's price went down by quite a lot and my father bought lots home. then we ate codfish till we got sick of it.

the take-home message. don't buy fish at restaurants:)

i think i take fish for granted. LOL.
29th March :)

my spiritual birthday! hahaa.
4 years old. i feel so old. lala.
today starts my 5th year with God.
so fun!
=D

NEW YORK (UPI) -- The driver and passenger of a New York cab were amazed after the vehicle flipped over an overpass rail and landed perfectly upright 30 feet below.

Passenger Daniel Kocis told New York Newsday that higher forces must have helped the cab land on its tires Saturday after plummeting off of the Veterans Memorial Highway.

"God loved us today," he said. "It could have landed the other way."

Despite having done a 360-degree spin after hitting a patch of ice and flipping over the guardrail, both Kocis and driver Victor Frank suffered only minor injuries.

Kocis said that while he recognizes why the accident occurred and the miracle that he enjoyed on Saturday, there was an underlying moral to the incident.

"It was man's doing, the random error, and God fixing it for us," he told Newsday. "When they say the bridge freezes over before the road, you better believe it."

i sneezed my whole day through today :D
and i foresee being super tired tomorrow! :D
anyway, whilst touching up on my part for JS (seeing if i can add in more information, browsing super a lot of blogs and sites about dark subculture - the loli-goth fashion and whatnots..), i was also watching this anime called 'okusama wa joushikousei'. It's one of those anime that likes to portray a student-teacher relationship and likes to offers fan service as well (ah well). It's about this 17 year old girl who's married to her sensei - a 25 year old yasahi (gentle) guy. Two things i learnt after knowing this information - in Japan, girls can marry after 16 and guys after 18.
anyway, the whole anime revolves around how they can't let anyone else (other than their parents) know that they're married (which seems kinda stupid in any case) and some stuff that happens along their marriage life. It's not a very gripping anime, nor is it enticing or uplifting. However, that's not to say that nothing's learnt from it:)
i learnt a few things. yay!
Like for example, the girl (called Asami) is SUPER DILIGENT. She wakes up every morning to make breakfast for her danna-sama (husband) and every evening she goes home to make dinner. Besides doing all the household chores, she also has her duty as a student (school work and cca and what-nots). ooh la. she makes me wanna clean up my room once again and wake up early in the morning to do household chores:P
Another thing i realised is through the way they address each other. when they're addressing each other (husband or wife), they end with a sama. To what i know, adding a sama to a name is equivalent of addressing the person as Lord. In that sense, could really see the respect they have for each other as a married couple even as they care for each other deeply.
hmm. so far that's all i learnt i suppose. haha. not a lot, ya. think the anime will be quite effective in dissuading pple from getting married though. seems like their life is not at all intimate (intimate as in openness to share that kinda thing. they seem quite formal with each other???) and relatively boring :)
keke.

what do you do with vouchers from takashimaya?
hahaa. i have no idea.
went around taka today to see if there's anything i can purchase to bless other people. wandered around b1 a few times and didn't find anything good to bless them with. LOL. smsing them didn't help. they replied with intriguing answers which makes me wanna faint:)
So in the end, i still have the full amount of the taka vouchers and no idea of what to buy. i suppose i can always buy things for myself..but that wouldn't be fun, would it:P
anyway, Hanes came to know Christ last saturday! yay!=] really glad for him:) he's a really talented guy, in terms of song writing and playing the keyboard, amidst other things:) so really hope that his talents will increase much and will be used for a greater purpose as well:)
some photo updates --- this usually happens when my mind runs out of things to say. for lack of profound words and comprehensible statements:

The following pictures were from open house day. HAHAHA. the 'beautiful' NUS open house day t-shirt=] with of course, the 'beautiful' NUS logo :)

you can see my beautiful tag underneath. one of the three most sought after tags from fass that day. 'psychology! ah. here're students asking abt psychology'... after 10 minutes of explanation, as i turn around.. 'psychology! psychology! ah. must learn to recognise your tag' heh.

the hectic crowd taken from a not so hectic corner of the hall:)

food for us poor volunteers. oh. it's our lunch too btw=] hahaha:)

the beautifully decorated cupcake shuyi bought for me and qiaoping! haha. we got different designs=) but i love the colours on this one!

the triops that phaedre got for me. thanks so much! haven't got the chance to buy distilled water and grow them though:) hahaha. maybe during my exams.. XD grow them in the classroom or something XD

received this in the mail 2 days ago! hahaa. from huiqing!:D she cut out quotes about friends (especially chosen for me, she says. haha) and pasted them in the book:) so sweet:) haven't written anything inside yet..still thinking about what kind of things i should write inside. hahaha:) thanks girl! as i quote from one of your quotes:
'No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth' - Robert Southey
:) thanks for thinking of me even when we're in different unis!:) guess even though we don't get the chance to meet up with each other very very often, the bond remains, so familiar that it's naturally part of your life. thanks:)

oh! i went to help out at infocounter before the filipino service today.. saw a safety plug for the first time in my life. hahaa. it's to prevent the romping hope kids from electrocuting themselves unintentionally:)
the plug has two switches instead of 2:

switching on the main switch doesn't turn on the plug.

have to switch on the plug's switch too!:)

hahaa. they had a hope kids bazaar too..but i came too late. so no more:) sadness. haha.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard."

In A Slice of Infinity Betsy Childs writes, "Are you sitting down? If so, you may be under the impression that you are also sitting still, but the fact is that you are in rapid motion. I'm referring to the earth's rotation; in the course of a day, our planet rotates at the brisk rate of 1000 miles per hour at the equator. Then there's the earth's orbital rate of rotation; we have to travel roughly 67,000 miles an hour to make it all the way around the sun in a year. Are you feeling any motion sickness yet?

"I could hardly be more stationary than I am right now as I sit here before my computer. But in spite of the fact that I don't feel like I'm moving, I know that I am. I see the effects every day in the sun's rising and setting."

I've never seen electricity but I know it exists because of its numerous effects seen every day in lighting, heating, cooling, running all sorts of equipment—and in "ten thousand" other uses.

I don't know any educated person who doesn't believe in the rotation of the earth or in electricity even though we can't see either of these—or a thousand other things that affect our daily life that we can't see with the naked eye. But many say they don't believe in God because they haven't seen him or they cannot feel his presence.

However, if we want to believe in God, we will see evidence of his existence everywhere we look. As God's Word says, "The heavens declare the glory of God." And as Helen Keller said, "There are none so blind as those who refuse to see."

Basically, we all pretty much see what we want to see, hear what we want to hear, remember what we want to remember, and believe in what we want to believe in. To believe or not to believe in God is perhaps more often than not a moral choice. If we choose to believe in God, we know we are morally responsible. If we choose not to believe in God, we delude ourselves into thinking we can live as we please without any consequences.

However, our disbelief in God doesn't alter his reality any more than refusing to believe in electricity and grabbing hold of a high-voltage electric wire. The end result of both of these is death—one immediate physical death, the other spiritual death which, at the end of this life, is eternal separation from God, the author of all love and life.

We are all given a choice about God either to believe or not to believe. And as Joshua said to the ancient Israelites long ago, "Choose you this day whom you will serve."

being a female is very troublesome:P
i learnt recently that besides the monthly menses, there's also something called ovulation bleeding.
*faint*

Monday, March 12, 2007

i'm very exhausted. haha. i was more exhausted just now before the project discussion for issues in development psychology. haha. had a long day working for the school today.. standing for 9 hours and answering the questions of incoming freshmen (i saw guanqun - guan's sister, liping and kim! hahaa). exchanged contacts with some friendlier ones so that they can contact me if they have more questions. hehe.
very strenous for the voice. haha. the other student representatives were like saying that the three of us from psy (me, estee - a year4 students and rayder - year 3) are overworked and underpaid:P 'cos we had a large influx of students asking about psychology:S haha. it was like i'll finish speaking to one group, turn to the right, there's a group waiting for me. i finish speaking to that group, another group will be on my left waiting. it got so bad till i had to stop one group and ask them to give me some time to get water..'cos my voice was already dying:P lol. but nevertheless, it's an interesting experience. at the end of the day, the different student representatives bonded nicely. haha. now i know someone from social work society (serene from yr3), the president, secretary and another comm member of the CNM society (i only remember the name of the secretary.. she's called Daphne and she lives in toa payoh! haha), someone from philo yr 4 and other pple i can't remember the names of. haha. we took a picture together=] then we wondered if the photo will come up in next year's open house's mural or something:P yea well. pretty tiring, hectic. but fun. got the chance to converse with the lecturers on quite a variety of things.. their life in general, their passion, their research, even their religion. realised that i really need to read up quite a lot if i wanna be able to share on an equal level with them:) it's not everyday that u can chit chat for an extended time with ur lecturer abt life in general. hahaa. had quite a good day chatting to serene over the bus trip home about social work in general and what she wants to go into in the future.. had quite a good time knowing more about estee as well:) she went on NOC and decided to stay there to work for another year:) haha. she says that she was in Philadelphia and she used to hear gunshots every night... it's not very safe in her neighbourhood. heh.
the freshmen seem to forever ask the same qns xD what's psychology? what do you all study? what are the job prospects? what is the intake and admission criteria? what is the difference between ntu, nus and smu psychology? lol.
there's still a lot of things to prepare for tmr:) hahaa. and wednesday's the day of two presentations for the two classes i have! woohoo. how exciting. maksim is playing out the extent of my emotions and thoughts. had a glimpse of working light. just a far distant glance. how intriguing.

Perfect Day - Josh Bates

Creation waits for Him to move.
The revelation of the truth,
Every eye will finally see.
The perfect day will come at last.
He will break the darkened glass.
With everyone on bended knee,
Maybe tomorrow, maybe in a hundred years.

Chorus:
The perfect day will come I know.
When I will dance around the throne.
With the angels, I will give Him praise.
I will finally get to meet the one who made joy complete.
The perfect One on the perfect day.
I am waiting for the perfect day.

Verse 2:
The world I know will pass away.
Only his love will remain.
All His work will then be done.
With his children gathered 'round,
They will make a joyful sound,
Giving glory to the risen Son.
I'm just a dreamer and I am dreaming of the day.

Chorus Again

Bridge:
I will keep my eyes focused on the prize.
I will run to the One who has called me.
Each new day begins singing songs to Him, hallelujah.
You alone are holy. You alone are holy.

His presence sweeter than before,
I won't be crying anymore.
More of Him is all I need.

Chorus Again

Outro:
You alone are holy. You alone are holy. You alone are holy.
Jesus, You are holy. You alone are holy. You alone are holy.
You alone are holy. You alone are holy. You alone are holy.
I am waiting for the perfect day.
-------
i love the sounds on the above song. hahaa. my favourite genre xD lots of drums, soothened electric guitar and a beautiful voice praising God. we really should have a radio station playing praise and worship music. LOL. i miss being a deejay and i miss introducing good songs to people.
more pictures! this time from my cny. haha.

food on cny eve:)

the guy beside my sister is her boyfriend. lol:P

yesterday was my birthday:) yesterday was the day i officially became an adult in the eyes of the world. haha. 21! yay. so on the 6th of march, the last day that i can not be an adult, i asked myself the question of 'what does it mean to be an adult?' haha.
i prayed for a specific vision and direction to be given to me. i have a vague one. but i'm greedy. i want a specific one:)
i love my 21st birthday=] haha. let me thank a few people:)
thanks to jasmine, jiali, jocelyn, jingting and sengkim who celebrated with me some time ago:) thanks to jan who wished me happy birthday on the 5th of march, who then took it back and said he'll give it back on my birthday. haha. thanks to iso, jit and nianying who got me a cake after psy lecture. thanks to michelle, jan, zhenzhong, zhichun, jeffrey, hanes (who drove us down!), michelle yeoh and weiling for celebrating my birthday with me on monday night. and thanks to michelle, michy, zhenzhong, zhichun, jeffrey, weiling, ashleigh, changjie, jinlu, phaedre and jan for the present! haha. thanks to my mum for sponsoring my guitar. thanks to hweefung for ur present:)
thanks for all of ur heart most of all:)
i'm not a person of presents. i dunno how to respond when someone gives me something. hahaa. but i really do cherish time spent with people. thanks for loving me through spending time with me. haha.
thanks to michelle who called me at 11.58pm of 6th march to wish me happy birthday. LOL. thanks to sengkim who called at 12.01pm. pretty amusing, this is. my sister gave me a card and my mum rallied my dad to say happy birthday to me. haha.
then i received birthday wishes from jiali, guoxiong, qing, jiayan (whose birthday is the same as mine), weiling(who wrote me a really long message. whaha), qiaoping (who wished me again at d242), yunlei, athifa (my maldives friend!), zhichun (who wished me happy birthday in chinese and gave me roses with zhixia the next day:D), yingxin, yufen (who wished me again at d242 too!), huixian (who told me not to underestimate the power of the birthday alert from friendster), hongdao (who always starts with a yo!), phaedre (who wished me happy birthday again in school), chiew (whose birthday just passed as well), steph (who said i'm old), shuyi (who also wished me again in school)... ziwei and zhenzhong sent me intriguing messages on the dot. hmm.
then i had ts practical:) we had dance. hohoho. and we realised that our dialogue is due to be performed next week! O.O hohoho. maybe can get veterans to vet through. haha. e.g. zhichun, zhenzhong, jan, michelle... haha. i finally got to know the name of puay's practical partner.. (but i forgot again. Al something.) poor kexi had to dance with miss samosir 'cos her partner wasn't there:) pretty interesting i suppose. thinking of taking more ts modules next sem. anyone wanna join me? lol. maybe can train up first before going into the creative arts ministry next time. haha.
oh yes. let's continue:D haha. went to hq, then ziwei played the guitar to sing happy birthday. hahaa. then i can't remember who's the second person:S then jan sang again:S
my caregroup is evil. they abandoned me:( lol. i was pretty sad when they didn't appear at 5.30pm.. when we're supposed to have dinner together. haha. so i smsed them to ask where they all are. kimchun smsed me to say he won't be joining in for birthday celebration and wished me a happy birthday and zhichun smsed me back using orihime-san to say i'm late for class O.o
lol. i smsed her back to say that i'm not feeling well and won't be going for class xD heh:) it's not exciting if u can't be cheeky on ur birthday. anyway, went for 'class' in the end. haha. zhichun-san hurried me into the class. joyce sensei was teaching maths (???)... haha. ichigo-san (daidai) kept sleeping and ishida-san (guoxiong was knitting away). two hollows (ruisi and kaili) appeared while ichigo-san pretended to go to the toilet. lol. pretty amusing:) thanks for arranging and planning everything out. i got a sushi cake! WOOHOO!
then we went for dinner:) haha.
sengkim wished me happy birthday again after 5.46pm (my birthtime). subsequently, jinlu smsed at 6+:D thank God for jinlu... heh. think she's really grown in the past months. haha. ellson wished me happy birthday on the bus, and benaiah at d242 itself:D
district 242 was empowering, encouraging and challenged me greatly. it re-ignited the vision i have.

-i've discovered who i am, as the Spirit touches mine
every step i take, every move i make, You are by my side
and i will be strong, my strength is in You
i will go! where You want me to go
i will do what You want me to do
yes i will go! where You want me to go
i will be who You want me to be
anything for You!-

i cherish the words the leaders shared:) the thing abt sacrifice confirmed my thoughts:) thanks so much.
the surprise of the day came at 10.30pm when mike wished me happy birthday. hahaa. really didn't expect it from him:) thanks! isobel also smsed me after that. haha. silly iso. jasmine too! lol. last greeting came from my twin! xinyi=) hahaa. silly twin too.
i got two belated greetings. haha. so fun. from cheongseng and yishyan:D haha. they're so funny. thanks for remembering:)

yay. that's my 21st birthday. the day which i officially become an adult in the eyes of the world. thanks for remembering it:)
yay. i'm back with photos:) this is like wayyyyyyy back but it's never too late to put up interesting photos. haha. anyway... on cny eve's eve's night (yes. the friday before chinese new year's eve), i went to help out dad at his stall:) some of the pictures i took. hahaha.

hehe. my mum:)

my dad:)

Big prawn and baby prawn :)

In case you don't already know, my dad's a fishmonger:) hahaa. i grow up eating fish. ironically, i'm allergic to prawns, squids, lobsters and ... kiwi ... (not much of a link for kiwi. haha)

In the preceding week to chinese new year's eve.. there was another interesting day... haha. it was valentine's day! :) was quite an interesting day 'cos we had cg together at munchie monkey's and joined some of the other (not some. ard 12 more) brothers and sisters at minds' cafe. haha. learned how to play the ever-so-famous citadels on that day:) v-day was also the day with little gifts!

Masterpiece-the Message of Hope

---
Join me on the 7th of April (Saturday) to discover how to have a new beginning to your life and see how your life can be a beautiful piece of creation as well:) Contact me for more details. hehe.
i'm quite excited:) getting my guitar tmr. haha. sponsered by my mum! 21st birthday present! haha. i guess it's the thing about owning your own guitar and choosing it according to how you'd like it to be :D i dunno at this moment the exact type of sound i'll like it to be.. but i have a vague idea of it=] i like the sound of acoustic guitars.. and michelle's guitar..so it'll be slightly on the higher and clearer range.. perhaps midtone. ureshi!
my mum is so funny. she was like asking me how much money i need. then she said in chinese 'is $1000 enough?' then i was like O.o $1000 can get me a few guitars. actually i really didn't mind even if she just passed me $100. i can always pay the rest myself if i buy a more expensive guitar. but i get her heart in wanting to bless me with this gift:) she should really use the money to buy some clothes for herself. lol.
my dad's birthday just passed too. 2nd of march. it adds up to 5. all the females' birthdays in my household add up to 10. my sis' birthday is 6th of april. my mum's is 2nd of august. i was quite amused 'cos it corresponds to the number of x-chromosomes in each of us. dun know how that link came about though:) wanted to bless him with something from taka (with my taka vouchers..) but i haven't had the chance to go down to taka. haha. perhaps tmr or something. as i get my gift, that i can go get his gift too. dunno what he wants. every year it's either a shirt or a treat. hmm:S
jiali just told me she uploaded the sentosa pictures. hahaa. go look at her blog for sentosa pictures:)
today is a good day:) today i experienced and realised my weakness. and today i had my heart set right and new understanding into my situation. i'm glad:)
God's timing is wonderful:) last saturday one of my tuition kids - shirlyn told me that she's not free on saturdays anymore..so we shifted the tuition to sunday. then dai told me on wed abt something on saturday afternoons. just nice! haha. then now the other tuition kid's mother would like to stop tuition for a month.. and just so happens i was thinking that it'd be better for me just to have only one tuition. thank God!
oh yes. i have a transformation question for all of you:) it came from one of the psychology experiments we had to go through in our tutorial. of course, the rest had to go through my group's experiment too! haha. here goes:

4 people were on one side of the river (same side). They want to cross over to the other side on a boat. The boat can only carry a maximum of two people at any time. There is only one boat. They have to use the boat to cross the river (cannot swim.. cannot get a person to hold onto the boat..). There's also no other things around to help.

Anne takes 5 minutes to cross the river. Betty takes 10 minutes to cross the river. Carrie takes 20 minutes to cross the river and Denise uses 25 minutes to cross the river. When two people are in the boat, the slower one will row (e.g. if betty and denise takes the boat together, denise will row and thus it will take 25 minutes.)

How do they cross the river in 1 hour?:)

Please do not search the net for the answer...it won't be fun le. haha. think about it. IF you still cannot figure out the answer, you can either ask me about it or search the net (i dunno if the net has the answer though. haha)

have fun!:)

My japanese name is 秋本 Akimoto (autumn book) 久美子 Kumiko (eternal beautiful child).

my son and daughter are mad. but thank God that i can really count on them to take care of the counter even when i'm not there :) really appreciate them. hahaa. thanks for serving in infocounter so faithfully! really blessed to be in the counter actually. though 1/3 of the counter people are already cls, they're still willing to serve outside during service. and the rest are so faithful:) thanks for ur love for God translated into action:)
today is A level results day. A level results day also shock people upside down. heh. dear sister who won't see this.. whatever the grades, you're still in God's plan. when one door closes, another opens. please continue to trust in Him. God will not let you go through anything you can't go through without Him.

i'm experiencing another brain drain. lol.
i wish there's a way to use deep brain stimulation to stimulate my hypothalamus. lol. so that i won't feel sleepy or tired xD the last lap for this week - stats 2 test tmr! xD
i used my fingers to massage the area around my eyebrows quickly. seems to wake me up. maybe it's psychological.. hmm. anyway. it seems to work xD not a very lasting effect though.
:)
open house briefing today. it was strange 'cos there were lots of fass office staff and lecturers there. and only a few students:S i saw miss emi morita (our japanese studies language sensei), lockhart (history 1101e lecturer) and my bio psychology lecturer-trevor. disastrous. i'll be working with him on open house day. how. i went to sleep after doing his test paper. lol. but lockhart's very nice:) he assured the whole seminar room not to panic upon looking at the amount of things that we need to know. haha. he say just get tell them that the module is very fun, ask them to get their friends along and everything will be fine. just excite them. he's very funny. hahaha:) got this lecturer yong or young or something who was sitting behind me. he kept talking when miss kelly was briefing us. haha. first impression isn't very good. i was actually quite surprised to hear that he's a professor. then they were like criticizing the nus system. a bit funny actually. hahaha.
but now i dun really know if i've done the best thing to accept the offer to answer qns on open house day. it's actually something i thought was quite exciting to have the chance to do.. to meet the students firsthand and be able to answer their qns, yet at the same time be able to know my own faculty more so that i can answer more qns in the future. i'm only helping out for sunday 'cos sat's got tuition and service. but i guess maybe i shouldn't have helped out so that i can help out for both days in surveying or something? :(
God. scan my heart and help me know my motives. that i may discern.
some nonsensical tests:)

Your Japanese Name Is...
Kagami Hayashi

koped this from kaili's blog:
Your Birthdate: March 7
Calm and understated, you struggle to express your love with words.Over time, your partner learns to recognize your passion by the actions you take. You're good at wooing someone slowly, without them even realizing it!
Number of True Loves You'll Have: 1
Number of Times You'll Have Your Heart Broken: 2
You are most compatible with people born on the 7th, 16th, and 25th of the month.

hahaa.
i quote.
"In this entire world, you are the only person, the only person i love or have ever loved. And i love you terribly. Terribly.'
:P no. it's not written by me :) it's from the script lines that i'm memorizing =]
hahaa. we're supposed to analyse and present a dialogue 4 weeks from now in Ts practical. haha. my partner (mike) and i are super enthu about it. his lines include the scene from the bible whereby jacob wrestles with an angel. i let him read the verses from the bible so that he can get a feel of what's going on. then he went to research on jacob! hahaha. now he noes about jacob's birthright fight with esau and his two wives and what happened to him in leban. lol. i didn't even know that he favoured rachel over the other wife. lol
i think i'll die laughing saying the above lines to him. the 'in the entire world...' :S
i think i'll die laughing even more as shamraz acts as a monk and has those lines spoken to him. hahaha.
