'passion of the Christ' is...heart wrenching.
watched it with sharlene (is tt how it's spelt?), gwen and jits:) was supposed to watch with the brothers as well but seems like we've a time crash...so we've decided to watch the movie seperately:) priscilla couldn't join us today 'cos it's her dad's b-day, but she joined us for dinner:)
-call me deeper, into Your grace
the river that flows from the holy place
wash over me, cleansing me through
my greatest love is You-
just felt like saying this:D
i love biology!:D i love psychology!:D and most of all, i love Jesus!:D
i find great joy in doing biology, in learning more about psychology...but knowing Jesus is my greatest joy of all:D a deeper level of understanding about the Lord and a breakthrough never fails to bring forth this sweet ooze of joy within me:) the sweetness is comparable to nothing...leaving a lasting aftertaste that lingers in your soul for long and allows you to reminisce of its taste.
:)
my dear adorable computer ate up my second entry which attempts at giving a proper summary of the wonderfully typed out first entry describing the events of my delightfully spent days with the interesting pop-ups of various pple from different areas of my life:) how about making this entry a summary of the summary?
sunday-went to support fungi at her k2 500m canoeing competition:D proud of her! she got champion! hahaha:D then me, qing and trace went to orchard to walk around and shop:) saw jieyu (from nyj), haidi (my sp in vj! apparently she's on an immersion programme from china...hahaha:D), a 1E girl...and some S4 pple:)
monday- went shopping with mum in orchard 'cos lydia supplied me with a birthday voucher for 20% off. went looking around in topshop, isetan, zara, mango... finally found my shirts in miss selfridge. saw chiew and her friend in mango!
today- went on 238 and saw this nyj girl who didn't look quite familiar but was looking at me as if she knows me...i just walked on...and further back of the bus, i saw david from youth! we recognise each other 'cos he was chairing cg404 on sat and jocelyn and i were leading praise...so amusing:) apparently today he specially took 238 'cos he was going to be late for school..ah well.
was getting down the bus when i finally recognised the nyj girl. it was xiangjun! hahaha. but she changed her hairstyle so i couldn't really recognise her at first. quite amusing:D
after taekwondo today, me, jit and weez went to eat at parkway bk...walked into bk and saw ziying and her sheep from cedar. farnie:D recognised her sheep 'cos coincidentally, she was giving a testimony at cg404 too! hahaha:D
yeah. met interesting pple around. tmr i'll meet more pple! yeah:D looking forward to cg this week. ooof. hmm. april fool's day...i wonder if anyone's gonna play a trick on anyone:)

-say the word, and i will sing for You
over oceans deep, i will follow
if each star was a song
every breath of wind praise
it will still fail by far to say all my heart contains
i simply live
i simply live for You-
i've got this song stuck in my head in the later part of the night:) was quite sad at first 'cos chloe died... and i didn't even know why she died...but i can't help feeling tt i've known tt she'll die a few days ago. this hint tt was present, which i chose to ignore. anyway i was losing my focus again when she came. ah well:)
watever it is, i may be saddened tt chloe has died... but i'll continue to trust God and lean on His strength:)
sleepy:) shall update more tmr:) had an enjoyable time talking to qing, trace, jiali, jitsy and twin:) and thanks to corinne and steph for the comforting words:) but i'm really okay:)

chloe won't open her eyes:(
she can move around normally (perhaps a little unhappily), but she won't open her eyes!
shall wake up every 3 hours to make sure she drinks water and eats food. i checked online...she might be suffering from dehydration. if she doesn't open her eyes tomorrow, shall take her to the vet.
forgot to mention yesterday tt lubna knows carrie!
'cos we were doing ipus... and i asked lubna why she seems to be able to do them effortlessly...and she said tt she used to be from bball..then i asked her wat school, and she said tkgs...then i remembered tt carrie was from tkgs bball too, so i asked her if she knew carrie...and she said 'yah!' and mentioned tt carrie was some sort of an 'idol' to her 'cos she could play really well. hahaha:D
anyway, we watched 'equilibrium' for gp today:D it's some sort of an adaptation from George Orwell's 1984, whereby emotions are believed to be the cause of evil, which leads to war...and no one is allowed to be feel. in the movie, it's said tt there's this chemical called 'prozium' tt pple all inject into themselves daily, and this chemical suppresses pple's emotions. so it's like in the movie, the buildings are all gray, and all tt pple have are either white or black, no colours at all --- 'cos colours evoke emotions. you can't feel either and wear gloves everywhere u go:P and the worst crime tt u can commit is by containing stuff tt can cause u to feel, like paintings, poetry, music or simply items of remembrance. quite a nice movie, but has a terribly corny ending.
the movie caused me to be thankful for the fact tt i live in a world whereby it's free for me to express my feelings, free for me to be able to believe in wat i believe, free to be able to learn about things around:)
chinese society stuff is officially starting...going to be very taxing 'cos the main crux of three main events coming up are going to fall mainly on the exco...the preparation of the current events quiz, the short play competition (i'm doing lighting with xiao xing) and hai cheng zhi ye. gotta come up with the poster design and the programme booklet design...then gotta take care of the tickets. hey! i'm selling the tickets. $8 each at vj's prestigious auditorium...u'll see my handphone number on the poster:P hahahah:D basically, i'm i/c of xuan chuan with lijia, and doing piao fang(alone!!! okay. the teachers i/c say they'll help me:D)
pray tt i'll give thanks to God in all circumstances:)
One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?" (John 5:5-6, NIV).

It may be hard to understand, but according to statistics I have read from both a Christian and secular standpoint, many people who have either a physical or emotional problem actually don't want to get well!

"That's absurd," I can almost hear some readers saying. How could a sick person not want to get well?"
Of all those who go to see a physician or a counselor with a problem, approximately 25 percent don't want to get well ... they want people's sympathy, they want to be taken care of, and some want to die.
Another 50 percent want the counselor or doctor to fix or heal them. As one doctor said, "Half of my patients would rather I operate on their body than they operate on their lifestyle!"
And only one in four actually accepts responsibility for his/her well-being and does everything he/she can to follow the doctor or counselor's guidance. These are the ones who are committed to getting well. They are the ones who want to get well--and are most likely to do so!
Perhaps this is why Jesus said words like, "Do you want to get well?" "Do you want to be made whole?" "What do you want me to do for you?"
God will bend the heavens to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. That's why he sent Jesus to die for our sins. But he won't do anything for us that we can and need to do for ourselves--otherwise he would be keeping us
over-dependent and immature. But as long as we want what is right for us, God will always do his part when we do our part.

all of a sudden, i'm thinking of universities once more...
got to know tt smu offers psychology and sociology as well:D and they have general education where u can take science subjects!!!
i wonder what God's plans for me are... in terms of ministry and studies. i wonder:)
i'm starting on a quest to get to know my class pple better:D *grInz* yeah!
when the music fades,
all is stripped away
and i simply come

longing just to bring
something that's of worth
something to bless Your heart

i'll bring You more than a song
for a song in itself
is not what You have required

You search much deeper within
through the ways things appear
You're looking into my heart

i'm coming back to the heart of worship
'cos it's all about You
it's all about You Jesus

i'm sorry Lord for the thing i've made it
'cos it's all about You
it's all about You Jesus

i'm currently a bit baffled about some stuff in life. need to pray to God for directions tonight.
anyway, amidst my bafflement, some stuff asked by peilee surprised me pleasantly today:D it was part of a prayer...and this prayer was made last year:) throughout the past months, God had worked in ways unknown:) so interesting! thank God! it truly surprised me. hehe.
was quite surprised to see serene having the book 'a purpose driven life'...hehe:D she says it's on sale now... i have the purchasing power, but i don't intend to get the book now 'cos i've got better use for my money:D
-when the music fades,
all is stripped away,
and i simple come-
today's not a very productive day 'cos physical tireness kinda got to me:) shall sleep early tonight to ensure tt tomorrow will be much better:)

oh yeah, let me talk abt the retreat.
we had a retreat on sat night... the yeb ct pple:) sleepover:D there were yuqian, lestari (dun really know how to spell...hehehe:D), jingting, ziyun (ziwei's younger sister!), me, jocelyn, joycelyn, qilin, jiali and wanqi(i think):D we played games (with a purpose) and shared:) then yuqian, lestari, jingting and qilin went home and the remaining six of us went to buy dinner:D heh. then free and easy all the way till around 12am...when we decided tt we should off the lights and maybe share our deep, dark secrets:D those never came. hahaa. 'cos somehow or another, we all ended up doing our utmost best to scare ziyun, who'll start screaming everytime we did something (eg. jocelyn and her imitation of somone... can't remember who though, jiali's collaboration with jocelyn on their ghost story, joycelyn and qilin's 'water ballet' to make weird shadows on the wall:D) at first i was sleeping between ziyun and jocelyn...ended up sleeping between joycelyn and ziyun instead. ah well:) oh btw, we finished laughing and screaming later than 1.30am:D poor parents and brother of jocelyn.
then morning came...and we enjoyed each other's company a little while longer:) then came the time tt we all departed, and i was left with joycelyn's company:) we were at tanah merah mrt station, boarded the mrt, and ended up at simei:|
for those wondering what's so strange abt it, it's 'cos we're both supposed to be travelling towards boon lay, not away from it and towards tampines:D hehehe. quite amusing:D got to know this sister a little more as well:)
went to study in the afternoon with twin:D on the way to starhub foodcourt, i saw... the uni pple! saw joy and junting:) joy exclaimed my name after i tapped on junting's shoulder. hehe. jt decided to accompany me, talked a bit to her here and there. told her she looked younger with dyed hair...while she told me huichun says she looks older:)
besides seeing jt, twin and joy, i also saw rachel (from uni) and some uni brothers... also saw the NE ULs from youth and some other youth brothers and sisters i didn't recognise. but dun think they saw us:)
ah well.
today passed quite calmly.
eh. got these from joy. super corny:D

stole these tests from joy's blog:)
Earth Personality
You have an earth personality. You takes things
seriously and are a deep thinker who is usually
interested in politics and will fight for what
he/she believes. You hardly ever fall in love,
but when you do, watch out world. You would
fight to the death to hold onto a relationship.
Your friends and colleagues see you as a rock

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).

According to a report by medical doctor Mark Eastman, the suffering Jesus experienced on the cross is almost unbearable just to think about it.
For instance, prior to Jesus' trial he was flogged by the Roman guards. "This process typically involved a whip with numerous leather thongs, 18-24 inches long, with bits of metal, bone or glass embedded in the leather.... Scourging
was an extreme form of punishment. The skin on the victim's back was usually shredded, thus exposing the underlying muscle and skeletal structures. Severe blood loss and dehydration were the rule. Many victims died from such scourging.
"After the scourging of Jesus, the Roman soldiers beat Him a second time with their hands and with a reed. Then they put on him a 'crown of thorns.'
Then came the crucifixion. "It is arguably the most painful death ever invented by man and is where we get our term 'excruciating.' It was reserved primarily for the most vicious of criminals."
Even though Pilate, the Roman Governor, said, "I find no fault in this man," he gave in to the jealous crowd and allowed Jesus to be crucified. With his arms stretched out Jesus was nailed to a wooden cross. "The nails, which were
generally about 7-9 inches long, were placed between the bones of the forearm (the radius and ulna) and the small bones of the hands (the carpal bones)," permanently destroying the largest nerve in the hand "called the median nerve.... In addition to severe burning pain the destruction of this nerve causes permanent paralysis of the hand."
"The positioning of the feet is probably the most critical part of the mechanics of crucifixion. First the knees were flexed about 45 degrees and the feet were flexed (bent downward) an additional 45 degrees until they were parallel
to the vertical pole. An iron nail about 7-9 inches long was driven through the feet between the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones. In this position the nail would sever the dorsal pedal artery of the foot, but the resulting bleeding
would be insufficient to cause death.
"The resulting position on the cross sets up a horrific sequence of events which result in a slow, painful death. Having been pinned to the cross, the victim now has an impossible position to maintain....
"The result is that within a few minutes of being placed on the cross, the shoulders will become dislocated. Minutes later the elbows and wrists become dislocated.... As time goes on, the victim is less and less able to bear weight on the legs, causing further dislocation of the arms and further raising of the chest wall, making breathing more and more difficult. The result of this process is a series of catastrophic physiological effects"
Eventually the heart begins to fail, the lungs collapse, and the victim suffocates. He dies a slow, unbelievably excruciating death.
And all of this Jesus did for you and me gladly and willingly because he loves us with an everlasting love. He died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins and mine so we could be totally forgiven and given the gift of eternal life with him in Heaven forever. The good news is that Jesus, after three days, rose from the dead assuring us that we who believe in him will also rise from physical death to be alive forever with God.
Are you willing to accept this gift God has given us?
back from cg bbq:D
had quite an enjoyable time:D we had visitors too... 9 in all:D had a fun time eating, chatting, playing games, bonding and basically get to know each other:) we didn't bear to leave each other... started clearing up only at 11.30pm and we still have 5 visitors with us:) very nice of them to help as well:)
then due to the fact tt it was getting quite late, most of us decided to take a cab home. decided to share a cab with sengkim, darren and his friend erick...'cos we all live in the north area:) the trouble is we all live in different areas of the north. quite amusing talking to them while trying desperately to flag for a taxi:) total cab fare added up to $21. we had the additional half of the original fare charge...so actually it was only $14. but due to the fact tt it's after midnight, $7 is added to it... ah well:)
think today's bbq was a success:) preparations were well done:) though honestly, i didn't do anything 'cos on the day they were preparing, i was having the interview workshop. heh:) thumbs up to them! and thank God tt he gave us a nice weather and a nice atmosphere which allowed everyone to relax and rest in the company we have with one another...even though we've only met some for the very first time:) one of the visitors xiao ran (not sure abt the spelling) commented tt she was quite tired when she came...but as the time goes by, she seemed to have put aside her fatigue and was ernestly playing 'polar bear' with us. *grInz*
learnt a new game from them called 'black sheep white sheep' (?) it goes something like 'black sheep, baa baa','white sheep baa'...needs some explanation...but it's quite a fun game:D hehe.

Thursday, March 18, 2004

today was a day consisting of a long workshop and the last part of a course. (before a start. let me comment. chloe is quite stupid. she went to pee on her food:|)
yeah anyway. had an interview workshop today tt was extremely interesting:D the lady who gave the workshop was called Imelda, mel for short...and she's an engaging person who has quite a vibrant personality (or seem to have). hahaa:)then there were two other guys...but i forgot their names. quite an interesting workshop tt teaches u abt image during interviews. i remember my first interview in the counselling room to apply for being a receptionist at spc. hahaha. i remember saying something like 'being a receptionist, we'll be one of the first pple that visitors see, and thus we represent the company. Having a warm smile (:P), i believe that i am able to bring out the spirit of...' something like tt. apparently mrs chua was quite impressed when i said tt. hahaha. nvm. long ago stuff.
then went off to last 2 lessons of clc. i was early!:D by 15 mins! hahaha:D ah well:)
heh.
our leaders in church are quite...interesting:)

got this from 'Just give me Jesus', chapter four.
The story is told of a man who, while walking down the street of his town, passed the window of the local pet store. He could see a giant iguana sunning itself on a rock, furry kittens tumbling head over heals as they kick-boxed a small toy back and forth, and doe-eyed puppies excitedly yapping at the kittens. But what caught the man's attention and caused him to stop and stare was the most magnificent bird he had ever seen. It sat regally on a perch in the middle of the window display, haughtily preening its brilliant feathers. Its head was a shimmering cobalt blue, its wings an iridescent yellow, its throat ruby red fading into a misty rose on its chest. The beak and feet gleamed ebony black, as did the fierce, intelligent eyes.
The man couldn't resist. Inside the pet store he noticed a sign posted near the bird that said in large block letters: "This bird is guaranteed to sing." He inquired as to the price and was told he could own the bird for one thousand dollars, which would include the cage.
The man gasped. But in spit of the sticker shock, he paid the price and proudly took the bird in its cage home. The rest of the day, he watched and waited, eagerly anticipating the bird's song.
By the next morning, the bird still had not sung, so the man returned to the pet store "What could be wrong?" he asked. The clerk apologized, "sir, didn't i tell you? the bird needs a ladder. He will climb the ladder, then he will sing." The man bought the ladder for twenty dollars, took it home, put it in the bird's cage and waited expectantly for the bird to sing. The bird climbed the ladder but sat at the top in silence.
The next morning the man returned to the pet store and told the clerk the bird still had not sung. The clerk apologized again and said 'I'm sorry. I forgot he needs a little bell. He will climb the ladder, ring the bell and sing' The bell cost twenty-five dollars. Back home, the man put the bell at the stop of the ladder in the bird's cage. The bird climbed the ladder and rang the bell, but that was the only sound coming from the cage.
The next morning, he returned to the pet store and was told the bird needed a 30 dollar mirror inside the bell. Back at home, the bird climbed the ladder, rang the bell and looked inside the mirror, but it didn't even chirp.
The next morning the man strode resolutely into the pet store. He pounced on the clerk and angrily recounted his purchases totalling $1075 --- $1075 for a bird that didn't sing!
The clerk answered that the bird would definitely sing if he installed a thirty-five dollar swing in the bird's cage. The man pounded his fist on the counter as he paid for the swing and warned that if it didn't work, he would return the bird and expect a full refund.
The man stormed back to his house, put the swing, crossed his arms, and stared at the bird. Sure enough, the bird climbed the ladder, rang the bell, looked into the mirror, and swung on the swing --- then it fell to the bottom of the cage, dead!
The man was aghast! He grabbed the cage with the dead bird, took it back to the pet store, slammed it on the counter, and yelled hysterically at the clerk:"I bought a bird for a thousand dollars and all the extra stuff. Not only does this bird not sing, but it's dead! what went wrong?!"
'Oh."the clerk responded,"did i forget to tell you? He also needed birdseed."
The bird had everything but the one thing it really needed, not just for a song, but for life itself. It needed birdseed!
What about you? Is something missing in your life, someting that you can't define? Perhaps all you know is that life doesn't seem to be enough for you.
Has your search for your 'song', for joy and happiness and meaning, caused you to choose a 'ladder' - a way of climbing up in your studies, seeking better results, devoting yourself to greater success in your tests and examinations? when that didn't work, did you decide you needed a 'bell' - a way of drawing attention to yourself by increasing your public reputation, visibility or fame? Did you become more frustrated when that turned out to be another dead end? perhaps then u rushed to get a 'mirror'- a way of remaking your image through cosmetic surgery, dieting, weightlifting, jogging, an exercise video, or a membership at a spa where you sculpted your body? As a last act of desperation, did you chase the 'swing'- by throwing yourself into pleasurable pursuits, entertainment, fun? As a result, do you find that at this moment you are beyond frustration and totally exhausted in soul and spirit? You just died on the inside. Hasn't anyone told you? You need 'birdseed'. You need the basic Necessity for real life. You need Jesus. He makes change possible when life isn't enough.
hehhe. it's been two days since i last blogged:D
let me update about chloe. she's a very timid hamster. i put my hand near her without warning her and she'll literally shriek. ah well:)
had taekwondo camp yesterday morning...due to a prolonged period of lack of sleep, i couldn't think during training of footwork and ended up having to skip a few footwork here and there...took extra long to figure out wat terence sir was talking abt. hahaha:) saw the video for taekwondo aerobics though and unarmed combat...hahaha. super funny:D taekwondo aerobics looked like dance (normal dance, like the vj dance)...while unarmed combat shows a scene where u used ur taekwondo skills in real life. acting involved:D
we also learnt about defending ourselves 'cos it rained and we couldn't proceed with the original plan of playing ball games. zhiheng and brook (?) taught us wat to do when a person places his/her hand on ur shoulder, when someone tries to stab u, or slash u and when someone holds a firm grip on both wrists in a threatening manner. yup. quite funny too:)
then had to rush to clc1. actually i thought i had enough time to reach, turns out tt i was a few mins late. as i told jocelyn, clc was interesting, enriching and exasperating. interesting 'cos of the pple there, 'cos it's my first time hearing jessie teach, 'cos i never realised joanna had a brother in Hope too:) enriching 'cos of stuff learnt:) exasperating 'cos i was sa-boed by jiehui and the rest of my grp pple to be the grp leader and my group was terribly unsupportive. hahaha:D they were supposed to act out different characters...like perpectually wanting to go to the toilet, or disappearing halfway, or even being supportive. ah well:) my grp consisted of claire, jiehui, jason (foo), hongsiong and sunny.
then after tt, had to rush back home 'cos whole family needed to attend to my nephew's wedding. food was quite nice:D hahaha!
today. hmm. had cip with lydia at bedok library:D quite stupid of me. 'cos i realised i didn't need to do any more cip... can just get the last hour from mac fsc or just donate blood. ah well:) did six hours with lydia...was super productive for the last two shelvings...took only 45 and 30 mins respectively to finish shelving one trolley (? dunno wat u call it) or books. we took 2 and a half hours at the children's section. hahaha!:D saw peilee in the library...and miss tang while walking to eat at bedok central!:D miss tang was my bball teacher in charge for nyjc. quite surprised to see her actually.
then went to have bbq with the taekwondo pple. quite fun i guess. was a bit boring at first...then pple warmed up to tireness and conversation and things got more lively:)
quite tired now. read a few chapters of 'Just give me Jesus'. very interesting:) allowed me to understand the verses of the book of John with a much deeper understanding as well. her style of writing appeals to me greatly too. hahaha:D

Sunday, March 14, 2004

oh. forgot to mention.
got a b-day present from Jason today. a book called 'Just give me Jesus' by Anne Graham Lotz (daughter of billy graham). about the book of john. interesting:)
wrote out quite a lot of reflections. but comp died on me.
shall keep the reflections to myself then:)
just wanna say tt it was good talking to twin, eesiew, jiehui and jason (and especially the qns he asked)

Friday, March 12, 2004

i've been sneezing and sneezing. ah-choo!
found out tt it's not the study room tt's currently open, it's the info centre:( so now i've gotta wait for all the construction work to start before i can use the study room. ah well:) can't really study at home. mum and sister and tv and comp are too distracting.
chloe's growing fat. and she refuses to go and sleep. i'm worried for her health. hahaha:D
13th anniversary tomorrow! can't wait to see tmr's programme. so sad no one else can join me. what with nus open house, psychology talks and smu open house... ah well. i've already planned out wat i'll take, so any amount of talks or open houses will just give me a preview of how the life will be like, but not affect my choice:)
had a nice time talking to lilin today:) we went to eat katong laksa...then chatted, caught up a bit:) got some interesting news here and there:) quite an enjoyable time actually.
i think i'll be broke next week. have to start planning finances. shall not spend too much tomorrow:) i wish my savings will have the multiplier effect. 5X!:D hahahaha:D

Thursday, March 11, 2004

this post is specially dedicated to fungi:
i want a surprise for my birthday present. hahaha:D nah. i dunno wat i want.
and...
mark wahlberg can wait for a few more years yet:)
oh! someone mentioned tt if there's ranking this yr, vj's on par with hcj at second, with rj being first. i wonder if the news is true:D quite cool if it is!
-i would like to visit the moon
on a rocketship high in the air
i would like to visit the moon
but i don't think i'll want to live there
though i like to look down on the earth from above
i would miss all the people and places i love
so although i may like it for one afternoon
i don't wanna live on the moon-

chloe's quite amusing. she doesn't seem to differentiate my hand smelling of hamster food, and hamster food itself yet. everytime after i change her food, she'll be very interested in my hand and try to nibble it. hahaha:D sometimes she licks it o_O
got quite a surprise in vj canteen today...saw ziwei and joseph!:) apparently they're working in the same place currently (with jason too) and their work place is having a chalet. so cool! i shall work there next time too. hahaha:D nah. see first. i might just take up the relief teaching thing(like huichun. she says the hours are more flexible) or become a lab technician who earns $1300 per month. ah well. next yr's stuff. maybe i should plan out my ASK for the rest of the year during the march hols. former one can't work anymore...changes here and there.
CG was a change today...heh:) we sat around, played games and shared. i always find it quite interesting to listen to other pple's testimonies...so many different experiences, encompasses different aspects.
i was reflecting on sat service's timing...and was just thinking about the advantages and disadvantages of it.
advantages will include the fact tt i can go there straight after school (most of the time...) and sunday will be kept completely free for me to concentrate on God and on work in the afternoon, as well as catching up with twin:)
disadvantages...a lot of talks and seminars and open houses on saturdays... like this sat! 13th anniversary! special service! so many things! and yet pple can't join in the fun 'cos it clashed with stuff around. so sad:(
heh.
got a letter tt the study room downstairs is now open...daily to 10pm:D yeah rocks! can just study downstairs during exams next time:)

-_-zzz

this is an upcoming event xinying is interested in:

singapore festival of arts

this is the play in the event xinying wld like to watch:

Othello
How Could I Live Without You

How could I live without You
How would I survive
Without Your love
Without Your touch
You're the One that heals me
That cleanses my heart
And sets me free

Now I come right before You
With my hands lifted up
And my heart humble bowed
At Your work on the cross
As You hung there and died
You were paying the price
For my life, for my life

For Your love
Is higher than the heavens
Deeper than the sea
And all I want is You
In my life
No one else can satisfy my soul
Can make me feel this way
Only You Lord, only You

just for a laugh...hope it doesn't stumble anyone:)

Four friends reunited at a party after 30 years. After a few laughs and drinks, one of them had to go to the rest room. The ones who stayed behind began to talk about their kids and their successes.
Thefirst guy says: I am very proud of my son, he is my pride and joy. He started working at a very successful company at the bottom of the barrel. He studied Economics and Business Administration soon he was promoted and began to climb the corporate ladder becoming the General Manager and now he is the president of the company. He became so rich that he gave his best friend a top of the line Mercedes Benz for his birthday.
The second guy says: Damn, that's terrific!! My son is also my pride and joy, I am very proud of him. He started working at a traveling agency for a very big airline. He went to flight school to become a pilot and also manage to become a partner in the company where he now owns the majority of the assets. He became so rich that he gave his best friend a brand new jet for his birthday.
The third guy says: "Well, well, well congratulations!! My son is also my pride and joy and he is also very rich. He studied in the best universities and became an Engineer. He started his own construction company and became very successful and a multimillionaire. He also gave away some thing very nice and expensive to his best friend for his birthday. He built a 30,000 sq ft mansion specially for his friend."
The three friends congratulated each other mutually for the successes of theirs sons. The forth friend who earlier had gone to restroom returned and asked: "What' s going on, what are all the congratulations for?" One of the three said: We were talking about the pride we feel for the successes of our sons. And then he asked, What about your son?
The forth man replied: My son is gay and he makes a living dancing as
a stripper at a nightclub.
The three friends said: What a shame that must be, that is horrible, what a disappointment you must feel. The forth man replied: No, I am not ashamed. Not at all. He is my son and I love him just as well, he is my pride and joy. And he is very lucky too. Did you know that his birthday just passed and the other day he received a beautiful 30,000 sq ft mansion, a brand new jet and
a top of the line Mercedes Benz from his three boyfriends.

it's my first birthday celebration in Hope...and lots of things have happened since my last birthday:)
i guess the most significant thing will be tt i've accepted Christ into my life and my name's written in the book of life:) thank God for tt. if i haven't done so, i would still be spiritually dead, depending on my own strength for everyday and growing tired, many new doors for observation won't have opened... living wouldn't have taken a whole new meaning, with fresh injections of meaning and purpose. you know u're on earth for...you know why u're studying, why u will be looking for a job, why things happen the way they are, about human nature, you know tt in watever u do, it's for the purpose of a higher calling. and you know you're never alone again, once you have Christ in your life. you have an eternal friend called Jesus. Jesus is personal, not some 'god' that is far away or something.
accepting Christ.. it's like exchanging mud for a mudpie or something, like paying $0.01 for a lifetime worth of treasures. actually in this case, it's paying nothing. u just have to ask for it.
ah well.
anyway, the east jc cgs celebrated my b-day with me today...originally i was thinking, oh okay.. after dinner, go home. then jasmine disappeared. then jocelyn said something to yaoguo (or izzit sengkim?) about getting dunno-wat...looked suspiciously like getting candles or a knife and told someone abt jasmine getting something. then jasmine came and cut up two straws and i started to suspect something. hahaa:D
then gwen popped over. then jiali appeared. then they started singing happy birthday to me. jasmine appeared with the cake (cheese cake!:D) someone said something about singing happy birthday to xinying... which i thought was rather corny...but then ah well:)
i find it quite embarrassing to have everyone sing happy birthday to me. didn't know wat to do, so i just clapped my hands along... like a seal:D:D:D
let me share two of my wishes... to see CG404 come to pass...and to see pple around me growing (esp.lilin and chian siew).
i didn't know CG404 is by april...i'm dead. hahaha:D pick up the momentum singing! let's pray hard!
Question: What is the perfect example of Globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana's death.

Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, riding in a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines!
And the funeral itself was watched by millions of people in 5 Continents.
And this is originally sent to you by a Singaporean, using Bill Gates' technology, and you're probably reading this on one of the IBM clones, that use Taiwanese-made chips, and a Korean-made monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by lorries driven by Indians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, trucked by Mexican illegal, and finally sold to you.

That, my friend, is Globalization!
hmm. today is a day with interesting events:D
at 2am in the morning, i woke up with the notion tt mosquito bites are good (was dreaming before tt)...then i realised tt i had real mosquito bites..well. so i applied medicated oil, and due to the fact tt i can't sleep 'cos it's too cold, i decided to make use of the time to study bio:D (not much use. what i studied at 2am was gone by 6am... came up for bio test and i couldn't do the qn.)
next interesting event happened after bio test when i was walking to the busstop with jits and was wondering what i should do next - go to nexus directly, or go home first? 'cos bio test ended very nice and early. so i decided to call jitsy to ask her where she's going... and she replied 'to school? for the interview talk?' then i was like..'eh?' isn't she in school already. tt's when i realised tt we had bio test...not maths test... and since jits doesn't take bio, she can't be in sch right?
third event. i went on 135 and forgot to tap my ezlink card..just happily walked to a seat:D
forth event. saw jieyun at the paya lebar bus stop with her peicai students:D quite amusing.
fifth event. 28 only took 10 mins to reach the outside bus stop today! usually it takes 20-25mins. i'm amazed:D
very nice:) this is my little rest at home before going off again. 3 pple's birthdays today... yupei, miss choo and mrs chin:D hahaha.

"And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner'" (Luke 18:13, NKJV).

King Duncan tells about the story of a manager of a ten-story office building who was informed that a man was trapped in an elevator between the second and third floors. The manager rushed to the grill work under the stalled car
and called to the passenger, "Keep cool, sir; we'll have you out soon. I've phoned for the elevator mechanic."
There was a brief pause and a tense voice replied, "I am the elevator mechanic."
Many of us, especially us men, even when we are trapped find it very difficult to say, "I have a problem. I need help." As a result, we pay a high price for our stubborn independence.
When it comes to our spiritual wellbeing and life beyond the grave many, if not most, people figure that if they have done enough good things to outweigh the bad things they have done that this will qualify them for entering
God's heaven. In other words we want to save ourselves, which is akin to a drowning man trying to save himself by picking himself up out of the water.
Vance Havner used to say how the world's a goner. It's a sinking ship. God's goal isn't to save the world but to save lost sinners from the sinking ship that is drowning in an ocean of sin and degradation. Only those who admit that they are a lost sinner and cry for God to save them can be saved for all eternity.
We simply cannot save ourselves. That's why Jesus came to die on the cross in our place--to pay the penalty for all our sins so we could be freely forgiven and given God's gift of eternal life. The prayer God loves to hear is, "God
be merciful to me a sinner!"
-i've got the joy, i've got the peace of mind,
i've got the faith in the Holy Ghost that fills me everyday
i've got the life, i've got the melody,
i've got the Word, the Word of God which sets me free!-
A level results released today. i wonder how everyone fared:)
we waited for an hour + for the chinese teacher to give us the results, but in the end, the chinese teacher never came up to the classroom... instead, it was the gp teacher who kindly copied down some results and told us abt it:)
results ain't too bad i guess. everyone passed:D michelle was so excited abt passing tt she exclaimed and hugged the person next to her (can't remember who)...
think there were some disappointments around..ah well.
let's concentrate on the main subs and GP from now on!:D

i understood a bit more of Jesus' heartbeat for His pple tonight.
Lessons of Love...
A ninety-one year old woman died after living a long dignified life. When she met God she asked him something that had long bothered her.
If Man was created in God's image, and if all men are created equal, why do people treat each other so badly?
God replied that each person who enters our life has a unique lesson to teach us. And it is only through these lessons that we learn about life, people, relationships and God. This confused the woman, so God began to explain.
When someone lies to you it teaches you that things are not always as they seem. The truth is often far beneath the surface. Look beyond the masks people wear if you want to know their heart. And remove your own masks to let people know yours.
When someone steals from you it teaches you that nothing is forever. Always appreciate what you have, for you never know when you might lose it. And never, ever take your friends and family for granted because today is the only guarantee you have.
When someone inflicts an injury upon you it teaches you that the human state is a fragile one. Protect and take care of your body as best you can, it's the only thing you are sure to have forever.
When someone mocks you it teaches you that no two people are alike. When you encounter people who are different from you, don't judge them by how they look or act; instead base your opinion on the contents of their heart. >
When someone breaks your heart it teaches you that loving someone does not always mean that person will love you back. But don't turn your back on love because when you find the right person, the joy that one person brings will make up for all the past hurts put together.
Times ten.
When someone holds a grudge against you it teaches you that everyone makes mistakes. When you are wronged, the most virtuous thing you can do is forgive the offender without pretense. Forgiving those who have hurt us is the most difficult and courageous thing Man can do.
When a loved one is unfaithful to you it teaches you that resisting temptation is Man's greatest challenge. Be vigilant in your resistance against all temptation. By doing so you will be rewarded with an enduring sense of satisfaction far greater than the temporary pleasure by which you were tempted.
When someone cheats you, it teaches you that greed is the root of all evil. Aspire to make your dreams come true, no matter how lofty they may be. Do not feel guilty about your success, but never let an obsession with achieving your goals lead you to engage in malevolent activities.
When someone ridicules you it teaches you that nobody is perfect. Accept people for their merits and be tolerant of their flaws. Do not ever reject someone for imperfections over which they have no control.
Upon hearing the Lord's wisdom, the old woman became concerned that there were no lessons to be learned from Man's good deeds.
God replied that Man's capacity to love is the greatest gift he has. At the root of all kindness is love, and each act of love also teaches us a lesson. The woman's curiosity deepening, God once again began to explain.
When someone loves us it teaches us that love, kindness, charity, honesty, humility, forgiveness and acceptance can counteract all the evil in the world. For every good deed, there is one less evil deed. Man alone has the power to control the balance between good and evil, but because the lessons of love are not taught often enough, the power is too often abused.
When you enter someone's life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be.
Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality?
When you die will your life have resulted in more loving or hurting?
More comfort or pain?
More joy or sadness?
Each one of us has power over the balance of love in the world.
Use it wisely.
hahahaha:D
vj will now have 8 youth pple! Apinun (is tt how u spell his name? jocelyn spelt it this way:D) is coming over to vj! rocks.

today is a sleepified tuesday:D
very sleepifying...we had to do gp compre during gp lessons, which happen to be the first two periods of the day...can u imagine, there we are, not even awake yet ('cos haven't eaten breakfast) and we've gotta figure out the meanings of english words that do not seem to trigger any recognition in our brains at all. in my brain at least. couldn't think. haha:)
it was much better after breakfast... we had lectures in the performance theatre! (Lt5 aircon's still not fixed. poor 11 to 17 who'll have to do their bio tests in there..:D) bio was okay. maths was okay. econs was.. okay. econs tutorial was boring. bio prac was full of drawings:) kenneth was surprisingly nice today...he helped pass microscopes to everyone. interesting event.
what other interesting events happened? oh! i kept bumping into jiali:) hmm. another interesting event? when Mrs Chuah called S1D today, all of us (except for huixiang and nicole who didn't know) didn't raise up our hands at all...'cos we've formerly signaled to each other not to do so...though seriously, it amazes me tt the rest at the other side of the pt understood us...'cos i didn't understand my own signals. hahaha:D yup. mrs chuah got a bit confused. well.
junting flew off today. ah well. see her in 10 days' time. haha:D
i'm aiming for at least a C in my bio common test. hahaha. if i get it, i'll blog abt it:) if i dun, i'll blog abt it too. well:D
