With the escalating influence of globalization, the world is beginning to look at matters such as info-communications, biology, technology, religious fundamentalism from new and quite often, revolutionary perspectives. How can the youths of today – the leaders of tomorrow – remain competitive in the pragmatic New Economy without losing sight of our ethical values in the face of mounting socio-economical pressures from all fronts?
To explore this situation further, it is the pleasure of the Living Life Arm of the Generation ACTS Club to bring you the seminar “Remaking the Singaporean Youth”. Our distinguished guest speaker for this event is Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of State for National Development, Trade and Industry. Dr Balakrishnan has also recently been appointed as Chairman of the National Youth Council. His passion for youths is evident and it is indeed our immense privilege to have him speak at our seminar.

In the 45-minute address cum 1 hour question and answer session, you can expect Dr Balakrishnan to touch on various issues such as:

* How youths today can achieve their aspirations in a seemingly pragmatic society.
* The role youths, youth workers and youth organizations could play in remaking the Singaporean Youth.
* The projected state of youths in Singapore in the next 5-10 years and the implications this would have on youths, youth workers and youth organizations.

By organising this seminar, we hope to create and promote awareness of the issues facing us today and learn from our guest speaker how we can play our part as both individuals and as an organisation such as our club to help in “Remaking the Singaporean Youth”.

Admission to this seminar is strictly by invitation-tickets only; hence, we appreciate your registration before the 20th of August 2003. Tickets will be released only upon confirmation and payment on the 21st August. We urge you to register quickly to avoid missing out on the opportunity to learn more about how and where you would fit in “Remaking the Singaporean Youth”.
