hehe:)
lots of things lined up for this sunday! oh dear.
taekwondo today was more stenuous than usual... maybe 'cos of my lack or practice, or my lack of stamina, or maybe just 'cos we did more stuff today:) drills and wat-nots. tired.
oof. i forgot to talk about the new house system in vj the last time:) vj now has a house system, 'cos of the future system which allows students to take different degrees of the subjects they wish to take, and the fact that each student will have to take at least one humans or one science in the future...yup:) we're in the house Draco! represented by the dragon, colour red:) think our house is cool! hahaa:)
my itching ear is distracting me from typing properly. heh:) nvm about it then:)

-times of refreshing, here in Your presence
no greater blessing, than being with You
my soul is restored, my heart is renewed
there's no greater joy Lord, than being with You-
heh. i think my comp has an adverse reaction towards blog entries...this is like, the fifth entry i'm trying to type out within two days... the last four never got posted:) including a very contemplative entry, which i cannot churn out currently 'cos i am no longer in that particular mood of reflecting on various aspects in life. whee.
went to bai4 nian3 at jieyun's house yesterday with the brothers and sisters:) watched two new movies:) 'life is a miracle' and 'sound of colours'. 'life is a miracle' was a particularly touching movie which aims at the heart and your mind. sprinkled with light-hearted moments throughout, including a very kua1 zhang1 scene which caused us to exclaim aloud...it was a highly recommended movie by sharon..and now it's a highly recommended movie by me too:D
'sound of colours'...i would like to watch this movie again, not because i was very touched by it, nor did i appreciate the movie to its fullest extent...i would like to watch it again simply because i didn't really catch the movie to its fullest (didn't watch the start) and couldn't really enjoy its flavour and capture the essence of what it's talking about:) hehehe.
went to the polyclinic today!:D for my poor ear infection which refuses to heal. i've to eat 8 pills a day:( and clean my ear and apply antiseptic cream 3 times a day. so much fuss for my poor infected ear. the experience of visiting the doctor was quite fresh to me, considering that it's only my third time visiting the polyclinic in my whole entire life:) *grInz*:D i just hope the taekwondo pple won't get too much of a shock when they see my ear:)
found out from jiali that my future caregroup will be a combination of the pple from vj and tj:) most likely. don't know the full details yet though. we'll see on saturday:)
saturday's got GP common test! aahhhhh well.
hahaha:D

-lady rain, i hear you at my window
lady rain, i need you softly falling on my face
why did the sun shining come and take you away
i wait for you again my lady rain-
hahhaa:D in this case...there's no need to wait:D it's been raining so frequently these few days i fear that vj will be drowned under the rising sea level (:P) sooner or later:D okayokay...exaggerating a tad:)
had SATs today:D verbal section super hard. *grInz* and i was thinking it's only me who was still in holiday mood and thus can't do the qns:) hehehe. thankfully, it's not me alone who sensed the difficulty of the qns. whew. hahaha:)
went to jiajun's house to bai4 nian2:D quite fun. hahaha:) played carom...is tt how u spell it?:) played car-racing too..no skills to tok about in both though:) not within range of my forte. hahaha:D had cg at his house too:D hehee. he kindly lent us his room to have cg. shepherd came to jiajun's house too:D to shepherd me. hehehe. felt quite bad makin' her travel...
had quite a long talk tonight:) yup:) thank God for her:)
figured tt my former blog template's a bit heavy on it's colours and on the heart, so i've decided to change it to a cheery, light scheme to meet the needs of pple in tt light fluffy mood ever since the start of the lunar new yr holidays (or to bring a spot of delight into the hearts of pple soughting for tt light fluffy feeling:D)
was just amused by thongkheng who has decided to send us a msg reminding us wat to bring tmr. he truly is quite responsible:) yup. good ct rep:)
i am not in the mood of SATs and sleep...i have a bursting desire within me to paint, to fill the night with light pastel-y colours, to colour each individual raindrop with a different shade, so tt the world may glance through the rain and admire its variation, to mute the sharp disturbing colours, tt pple might be able to sleep in the soft surround of colours gently blended as one.
i am in the delightful mood of twirling around, absorbing in the beauty of the world God has created and indulge in tt simple song of nature. to sit, be still and enjoy a world yet to be tainted by the vices of the world, just for tonight.

hmmm.
my room is currently predominantly blue, white and yellow (or the light brown:D --- wood colour...) nice and bright and cheery:)
yeah! happy chinese new year!:D originally i dreaded chinese new year a tad...'cos not tt close to my relatives, literally visit once per yr (except for one of my maternal side auntie:D paternal side pple dun visit us at all:P) yeah well:D today went quite nicely actually:D
aunt and uncle came first, then followed by ah-zeng jiejie (eh. my cousin) and ah leong and the bunch (hahahaa. strange names?:) then followed by my nephews (ke ming and ke yong) and their dad. actually ah-zeng jiejie is their mum, but then they've divorced, so yah. their dad's my actual cousin. how confusing. but we're quite close to ah-zeng jiejie so yup:D long story.
yeah! keming's in tpjc now (he chose to go there 'cos a lot of his friends went there...or else he'll be in tjc right now, closer.) quite cool! 'cos his lit is super good:D he's taking lit S paper. hahaha:D
eh. i know he's supposed to be my nephew, but he's the same age as me. so yup:D he's like...one of my closest relatives:D got another nephew, born by another male cousin, but tt nephew's quite proud, so not very close to him. ah well. but then he's coming tomorrow:D ah well. will try to meet his need.
hahaha!:D
played cards today. 'cos i figured everyone will be bored, so i casually asked if they wanna play cards. (we haven't played for a few years, can u believe it?). yup. cards went very well indeed:D
yeah anyway. relatives went home around 2+pm:D...slept the afternoon away (sleepified.) went out with mum and sister to the River Hongbao 2004 thingie... felt tt it wasn't very nice...the atmosphere wasn't properly brought out. it was one big funfair instead, with the main purpose of earning revenue from us. didn't really feel good being in there, so we merely walked around a tad and went somewhere else to eat:D oh! i tried the bing1 tang2 hu2 lu2 from china today:D
yeah. watched 'the perfect guy' just now on channel 8. lots of familiar actors and actresses, like stephen chiau, kristy yeung (!!!), chen xiaodong(!!!), wu junru and sammi cheung:D however, the attempt to make it a cinematic fiesta became quite a fiasco instead. (actually i'm not sure about the meaning of the words, but they sound nice, so hahaha:D)
kim chun passed me the definition of fiasco. sounds like the word fits in quite okaily, just hope i'm not using the whole thing wrongly:D

Starry starry night - Vincent Van Gogh

The original song --- 'Vincent', was a true love song written by Don Mclean as an expression that Van Gogh's life was something the world was not able to accept and thus left him in solitude.

JESUS (sung to the tune of 'Vincent' by Don Mclean')

Starry, starry night,
Shepherds, kings, and a drummer boy,
Your angels singing praise and glory,
The world receives her Savior in this Child.

And when You were a man,
You told us of the Father's love,
Sweet mercy for us from above,
You calmed the sea and fed us holy bread.

But we did not understand,
What You tried to say to us,
That a king must die and rise again,
For His kingdom was at hand.
We were not listening, we could not believe,
We were so deceived.

Starry, starry night,
So blind was I in dark of sin,
I followed each and every whim,
I could not see Your light, Your love, Your hope.

But You were always there,
You held my hand, caressed my hair,
Oh Lord, how did I miss You there,
So long I wandered ignoring all Your love.

I did not understand,
What You tried to say to me,
How You suffered for humanity,
And how You died to set us free.

I was not listening, I did not know how,
But Lord, I'm listening now.

No I did not love You,
But still You love for me was true.

And in my starry, starry night,
When no hope was left in sight,
You gave You life as only Love could do,
And through Your resurrection, Jesus,
The gates of heaven opened,
That we may one day be with You
Was watching 'my sister Hedi' on Arts central:) it's a chinese movie...with famous female stars (in my mother's time anyway) and gives a plot very similar to that of 'little women'...mum says the chinese name is called 'si4 qian1 jin1'...hmm:)
went to the TJ food and fun fair today... saw yuanling, suatying, cailin, kaishi, eunice and mabel:D *hehe* spent a fair deal:( i wonder about my cbf:D
the chinese new yr mood is getting a tad to me:D i feel like staying out late. hahaha!:D:D:D
The Singapore government decided in December to list its high-tech sewage-water conversion plant as a major tourist attraction; Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong drank a bottle of the purified waste to demonstrate that it is not only safe but tasty. And sanitation officials in Oslo, Norway, said they will soon create an adventure park within the city's sewer system, including rafting, theater performances, artwork on the walls, and an area for weddings and parties.

hmmm...i do tend to forget that the garfield comics will actually cover over my template...ah wellz:D
shall write something here...but then i'm too sleepy to actually write anything of substance. so yah.
the worship today really touched me...even though it's like the forth time i've heard it or something, it still touched my heart. especially more today i guess, when i think back of the times that i've spent with God, how He has healed me, picked me up and allowed me to walk on His strength.
I also thought back of our caregroup times...
yah.
it's not even a year since i'm known my brothers and sister...but what we've shared is so much deeper, we shared our lives. lots of them together. it's truly a spiritual family.
ah well:)

-to see You high and lifted up
shining in the light of Your glory-
these verses particularly stands out at me today... in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
how hard it is for us to find joy in whatever we do. when we fail our exams, where does joy come from? when we have to face seperation, where does joy come from? when circumstances go bad, where does joy come from as well?
but indeed, joy doth cometh from Lord, resting in the His presence and knowing the peace. joy cometh from knowing that the Lord loves you for who you are, no matter what. His love level never drops under 100%.
i thank God for the joy and peace i've found in Him even as i experienced some internal turbulance today.
i really don't like change. that feeling of not knowing about a lot of factors, about missing people whom you're so close to after a while, of things changing just when fruits are finally appearing. in fact humanly, i oppose change.
but i've got to learn i guess. to see things in a bigger light:) as pastor jeff said, for the first time in history, Hope is having a caregroup in EVERY JC in singapore. cool yah?:D hahhaa:D
and poor huichun doesn't have to travel all the way from jurong west down to vj again...not for now anyway:) will miss my shepherd a lot (dunno if i'm changing...most prob though), will miss ziwei and huichun too. and the ns guys... and the graduated former j2s...
but at least we'll still see each other, just not as frequently:) and we'll forever remain brothers and sisters:)

Wednesday, January 14, 2004

i wonder if i'll pass the chem group 7 test tomorrow:)
think miss wong's quite a good chem teacher... junting says i might be a visual learner (words dun appeal to me, graphs and diagrams and pictures do)...i'm testing out my new learning style:) anyway...miss wong's quite good 'cos she gives us nice simplified diagrams which appeal to me very much. hahaha:D
yeah. did anyone notice the night sky today?
it's bright:D surprisingly bright just now at 10pm when i reached home. very windy too:D fresh air. love it:)
a line popped into my mind just now...but i can't really remember it now. it went something like dewdrops and a tear.. wasn't feeling melancholic or anything...was just admiring the nice weather:D can't describe here...it's one of those things that sounds odd once u describe it, something u've got to feel urself, then u'll go 'bingo! this feels like what xinying described' or something. hahaha:)
was helping out in chinese new year rehearsal today...i'll be shooing the performers on stage on the day itself:D
i feel at peace. something wenjiang sent kinda encouraged me. in a way. hehee:)

Tuesday, January 13, 2004

oh dear. i just realised the my comic goes out of boundary. not particularly very nice-looking if it goes out of boundary...kinda overlaps with the lines and what-nots:D
had taekwondo today...saw my SP!:D hahahaa. quite amusing. now i know how she's like.
heard from the news that there was an explosion in one of the buildings in the industrial park near my house:| four pple got burned to death:| cause is unknown...how sudden this has happened. police dun even know the cause of the explosion yet:| four lives lost. just like tt.
a comic to brighten up ur day!:D

Sunday, January 11, 2004

yeah well. had grading today:)
went to meet the taekwondo pple in the morning, was 5 mins late, then found out that we can't take the morning grading 'cos our grading cards are locked in the vjc storeroom due to the fact they were thrown in when our locker wasn't cleared...and no one was in school.
so, me and jit then got to make some decision about service and we concluded that we can go for first service. so poor huichun got woken up early in the morning, and jason got woken up early in the morning too.
i dun like to miss out on service. 'cos if i miss out on service, i'll miss the fellowship, miss out the praise and worship which never fails to administer, miss out on the testimonies of pple whose lives have been blessed by the Lord, miss out on the sermon which teaches and miss out on the chance to truly share two hours with pple, all with the same love in our lives, even when we're all so different, there's a strong link between us all that cannot be explained - and that's the love of Christ:) a family. an universal family.
yah anyway, we managed to go for first service, with Joy (from Riverlife Church?, not from Hope:D) joining us 'cos she can't make it for her service:) hehehe.
i always get reminded of this verse these days... it's a verse that always leaves a deep impression on me, one of the verses i knew before i was a christian - without knowing it's a verse and something which struck me hard even before knowing Christ.
it can be found in Matthew 16:26:
"What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?"
i find that it's so easy to neglect our souls... pple generally forcus a lot on studies (no1 attention grabber!:D), on friendship (friendship is good:D but haven't u felt those times when u feel as if friends just don't fully understand?), on BGR (geez. read same point as friendship. change friends to boyfriend/girlfriend) and even on money (money money, don't run away from me!).. with so many different things vying for our time, where can we find the time to focus on our soul? even when our soul's going to be one of the only things that'll last through our entire life:)
i dunno how many times i must emphasize on the importance of our souls, and i dunno when it'll take pple to realise that their souls are calling out to them, trying to get their attention, the small, still voice being buried by the burdens of the world.
when will pple start living a more fulfilling life, start to store something that's truly of worth, so that in the end, when pple question you to the root of what u have, u'll have a bowl of truth, shimmering brightly for all to see.
my heart pales to see pple being hurt over things of the world. you can provide them with the surface comfort, but what will really dig out the root of hurts... they reject.
when will pple see? i deeply wonder.

Saturday, January 10, 2004

hhehee.
grading tomorrow!:D
this is my grading pattern:)
yellow belt currently, going on to yellow-green:D

Thursday, January 08, 2004

i am tired physically and mentally.
and my body's taking forever to heal over one small wound. actually have been having wounds after wounds.
grumbled a bit today. not good.
tomorrow is going to be one looooonnnnggg day again. ooof.
got back maths repaper...horrible. hahaha:) like out of the whole entire LT who took repaper, only 1/5 passed or something similar. i didn't pass either, got only 37%. ah well:)
they overheard mrs chua telling a girl who only got 10% that she might as well go to polytechnic... think the girl was only taking 3 As...
really would like to advise pple to go to a school that they can excel in:) don't join a school 'cos ur mum tells u too or 'cos everyone says it's good. in the end, if u're not motivated by having done well or simply not motivated at all, it's not going to do ur education and A levels much good:)

Wednesday, January 07, 2004

*beams* we have cca walkabout today... i was wearing a box...literally boxed in (!)... which advertised chinese soc and challenged people to join us to act as well as felicia chin, xie shao guang and the likes. 30+ pple signed up:D or izzit 40+? not sure:D
they had lots of fake ccas! quite amusing:D it's to trick the J1s...as in, if someone signs up for more than three fake ccas, the person will have to do sabotage.hahaha:) some fake ccas included modelling club, movies club, IDAC --- indoors activities club, canoeing (yes, vjc doesn't have canoeing...we have sailing instead:D) and some others which i can't remember...i know last yr they had a laughing club as well:D ohoh! they have international friendship club too!:D fake one of course.
first official day having lessons. heh. missed the class actually... but quite sleepy during class:) i can't wait for our class's angel-mortal thing to start! the j1s have already started. oh...my junior class is...ehz... S24:D a lot of girls, like our class! hahaha:)
oh yah! i saw the girl from Yhope again:) she's really from Yhope...name is Jiali, from A55:D asked her if she's transferring to Pt and she says she's staying back to help. already an UL:)
got two other guys from Yhope in Vj too...but they're staying in Youth to help too:)so i guess we won't see them. haha:) heard that Mr Boy is going to lecture next week...so cool!:D

Tuesday, January 06, 2004

HOHOHO.
i fell asleep during econs. wah. i was on my fifth mcq qn. then it got a bit groggy. haha:)
aaaahhhh! case study was okay. about SBS and TIBS and SMRT and NEL. essay 1 is okay:) essay 2 is very not okay. but it's over, so i shall not harp on it:)
i miss taekwondo. hehhe:) haven't gone for sometime, a bit tired at first, but taekwondo woke me up when i kept forgetting the sequence. hehehee:) yeah! we finished learning the pattern in just 40 mins!:D it's the refining that's gonna be harder.

Monday, January 05, 2004

i got reminded of my church multiple times today:)
when i was in school, i saw the sister i waved to on sunday morning at istana (from Yhope --- Youth of Hope Singapore?:D) in school! she's a J1:D but dunno if it's really her...haha:) was just wondering on sunday how i knew her. ah well o_O
then...
when we were walking to Orchard Mrt, i saw another sister! she's the one who sang the song 'give' with the guy...eh. i can't remember wat the guy's name is. the song that went '....giving, it's a complicated feeling, ..' yah. can't remember the lyrics:) the very jazz and rappy song?:D
then, as i decided to search for a blog online for a person who's in Yhope and is coming to VJ, and i stumbled unto this girl's blog who indeed fits the 'criteria' of being in Yhope, but not in vj:( but...realised she has the same birthday as me!:D whoa.
then i went to blogger.com, and saw on the list of newly updated blogs, one titled Jesus Christ, so i figured...interesting. i clicked on it and realised that it's another person from Yhope (hahah!). interesting:D
i am amused:)
anyway, today's chem paper was easier than promos...but i didn't have sufficient time to prepare, so. yah. my own fault i guess...should have started at the beginning of holidays:)
yup:D tomorrow's corinne's birthday...but i dun think i'll be awake tmr night, so...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORINNE!:D YOU'RE ELEGANT EIGHTEEN!:D WHHEEEE~

Sunday, January 04, 2004

-i'm not afraid of circumstances, 'cos i,
i've already found the answers,
in Christ, all of God's promises are Yes, Yes and Amen-
hohoho. merry christmas:) we have a new brother today in the east! from mj, yr 1. he's called jiajun...michael's fren. and today's michael's birthday:D *grInz*
hmmm. just recalled that on friday's worship prac, ah long(the worship leader) was asking us what was the best thing that happened to us in 2003...then i was just thinking...izzit having brothers and sisters? izzit knowing my frens in vj? izzit the taekwondo competition? izzit being able to spend the yr being able to find peace even when the world is going rough? but all these things just led me to realise that the best thing that happened to me in 2003 was indeed knowing Christ:)
looking forward to this year...all the exams and tests going to be coming up. all that i wanna do now is to be able to aim high for the things which i have... and to know my limits. as in, i dun wanna spread my limited resources over a lot of things and in the end, not do the things excellently. will rather have lesser things, but do them excellently. yup:)
looking forward to university too...hahha:D then can really finally choose things to study. of interest too! not that i'm not doing things of my interest. just tt they're not totally of my interest. ah well:D
but i'm still quite affected by fatigue. very stronghold in my life..gotta do my best to break through it. like now. heh.
-Your hand lifted me up, i stand on higher ground
Your praise raised in my heart, and made this valley sing
You have turned my mourning into dancing
You have turned my sorrow into joy-
btw, everyone's welcome to come for service. just sms if u'd like to come:D
i cut my hair!:D hahaha:D
now i find it short.
new hair cut to a new year:) yeah!

Saturday, January 03, 2004

heh.
i was too tired yesterday to do anything much. fell asleep at around 1+am... that time, i forgot to off the lights, forgot to change into my pyjamas and even forgot to take off my specs. then mum woke me up and helped me take off my specs and off the lights. apparently, she was quite shocked to see that i've changed into my pyjamas when she peeked in this morning. but the fact is, i have no recollection of changing:(
heh. too tired i guess:D

Friday, January 02, 2004

i recall a time when i was feeling disgruntled. extremely disgruntled. And i did my quiet time in the midst of my disgruntlement. but as i prayed, i took less notice of my disgruntlement, and was more focused on God. it came to a point when i started to smile and prayed more ernestly. and it was till i stopped praying that i remembered that i started out being disgruntled, but it was gone. it wasn't exactly an uplifting of emotions/burdens, as some other pple may have experienced, it's more like the in-filling of God's love and peace, similar to ointment soothing away any pains.
and tonight, just as the realisation of school reopening hits me, and a slight wave disturbed these peaceful thoughts of mine, a verse encouraged me.
i did find out something about myself though. i can't seem to do subjects which is so called in-between, like chemistry. oh bio is fine. physics is fine. chem? :P. or geog. it kinda linked to the fact that i may still hold ideas of categorization in my mind. long story.
anyway, i am going to continue on maths. shall do my best?:) yup.

Thursday, January 01, 2004

hey! it's a new yr!:D we should all aim to be more Christ-like this yr:) yeah!
i've made three resolutions. first time making resolutions. hahaha. wonder if they'll work. nonono. scratch that. they will work, with the strength of God:)

1. I resolute to use my time more purposefully, 'cos if i do everything nicely, i should be able to find lotsa seemingly lost time, when in fact, they've always been there:) another way of phrasing this resolution is to be less lazy:P
2. i resolute to grow more spiritually, and be able to apply firmly the principles in the bible to aspects in my life. elaborations will be between me, my shepherd and God.
3. i resolute to persevere, both spiritually, mentally and physically. do my best?:) yup.

counted down with the PT pple yesterday, at west coast:) quite fun:) heartwarming to know that u spent the first few secs of the new yr 2004 with ur brothers and sisters, and friends too (eg. jean, eunice, xuwen... ) hehehe:)

Sunday, December 28, 2003

the door was closed. then another opened. opened very wide. then it closed again. so strange. some doors remained open. but the one which i thought is going to stay open didn't.
what was supposed to grow a lot, didn't do so today.
think i'm a tad affected by physical fatigue right now...should go and sleep soon:)
studied a bit today. maths. hahaha:D

Saturday, December 27, 2003

went out with the X-Jameeah pple today (a.k.a X-Jammers!:D) all of us, except for our dear faciliator (who had to go for a class outing), our dear MC (who wanted to join us, but can't in the end) and my dear primary sch fren Adeline:) we wanted to go watch Lord of the Rings... but it turns out that the tickets were sold out (for 4pm show) and the earliest we can watch is at 7.30pm (???!!) at PS. so yup. and then it turns out that everyone has watched it (!!!) except for me and freedy. and freedy watches it for the war scenes (hahaa:D), so we decided to go eat lunch (at 3++???) instead. walked to cine, 'cos that's where huichun was (to check for tickets), sat at Long John's and basically just talked and played all sorts of stupid table games till 6+pm. hahaha:D stupid games include (open, close, open open... , What time is it, white/black magic...blah etc.)then we went to play the find the diff in photos game. ah. quite an amusing night actually. more sharing done. heh:D have a good time talking to Eunice and huichun:)
yep:D yep:D yep:D
going to study tmr.
yep:D
didn't know darlene (from Hillsong) sang on channel 5 on the christmas wish. cool eh?:D
i thank God for answered prayers. yup:)

Friday, December 26, 2003

hehehe:D
christmas is officially over. how about a belated merry christmas, everyone?:D
watched the repeated broadcast of the christmas wish on channel 5 today:D some female was singing the song 'we are the reason' so cool right?:D considering that yesterday's party this song was sung, then at 8pm when the show was shown, the song was sung too:D
-we are the reason that He gave His life
we are the reason that He suffered and died-
the girl actually said something about Jesus dying for us and she thanked the Lord on national tv:D then throughout the show, carols were sung, praising Jesus, praising and thanking God for sending His son down for us:) very nice:)
i'm very glad that for the first time, Christmas is not only happening around me, but it's happening right in my heart as well:)
-I love You Jesus, deep down in my heart
I love You Jesus, deep down in my heart,
talk about deep deep, down down, deep down in my heart,
talk about deep deep, down down, deep down in my heart-
christmas party was really swelllllll...super hip-hop:D hahaha:D the youth people could really dance. such a pity pple missed it. saw someone called Mandy from my senior class, and Violet from vj bball was there too:D. quite interesting to be able to talk to them for the very first time. haha:)
we went carolling too! hahaha. people actually ===stopped=== and listened to us sing. yeah manz! silent night was relatively challenging though...sang till my stomach hurt:P we got quite into carolling mood outside borders...couldn't really stop. people went a tad nutty and started singing all sorts of songs..(song that doesn't end, dui mian de nu hai kan guo lai etc.) yeah. the only night when u can scream and pple will find you normal. ah well. all's fun's in the spirit of love and joy:D
anyway. we sat around and played games till around 11pm, when we figured we should start moving. well. the journey to the mrt station was a tough and tedious one. having to duck whizzing foam and spiralling lengthy objects which threaten to cling to our hair, dig our way through throngs of people and to clutch unto the shoulders of our fellow comrades in this fight against the flood of people. hahaa:)
didn't get home till 1am 'cos me, mingxiu, huiling, eng hao and bowen decided to count down in toa payoh. long story. not going to elaborate. yeahyeah:D christmas is cool. but we do need to remember that christmas is about christ, not clause. and that jesus will always be the reason for the season:D

Josh's song for God. let me borrow it.
You raise me up - Josh Groban

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until You come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when You come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
"The previous summer, I had attended a couple of church service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle at the urging of a friend. Though I had really been touched by what I saw and heard, feeling the sermon had been delivered just for me, (BUT) I hadn't been ready to give up the partying, the carousing. Someday I would do it, I told myself. But not right now! I am too young, having too much fun."

Sounds familiar?

But today Genelle has changed.

"... now I tell people, 'Tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone. You don't know what is going to happen to you.... I don't think people get a second chance like I did. Today I can live for him and tell other people about what God has done in my life because God saved me.

What happened?

Genelle disliked church, thinking it is a waste of time?

When she was 19 she was expecting a child and moved in with her boyfriend.
The relationship lasted 6 years. After the split she spend more time at clubs & parties. She was feeling that at last she is having her own life, the life she had always wanted with no one to answer to.

She worked with Port Authority of New York on the 64th floor in North Tower of the World Trade Centre. When American Airlines Flight 11 slammed into the building, Genelle & 14 others headed down the stairway.

"By the 13th floor, I could not take it anymore. As I leaned to take off my shoes, the whole place went boom & completely black. I fell back toward the wall and fell to the floor. My eyes & mouth were filled with gravel & dust. I knew I was being buried alive. I was still breathing with my leg & hair pinned under the concrete.

I knew then I was going to die. I started calling Rosa my friend but there was no response. Then I heard a man saying, "Help, help, help." His voice grew fainter and then there was nothing. In the dark, I thought of my children, family, fiance. More than anything, I worried about what would happen to me after I died. I did not know how to ask for forgiveness. I was sure I was going to hell.

I was in & out of consciousness. Every time I woke up, I tried removing the rubble. My head started to swell. I wanted to get it free from the concrete rushing forward & backward.

That's when I started praying "God, I can't take this pain. Help me get my head free of the concrete." Then I made one hard pull & feel the hair ripping from the scalp. My head was bleeding but at least it was free.

My foot started to swell and I could feel iron & steel sticking into my side.

I told myself I got to do something. But what could I do? "God you got to help me!"

I prayed. "You got to show me a sign, miracle, give me a second chance. Please save my life!" My eyes were so caked with soil that tears could not come. "Lord just give me a 2nd chance & I promise I will do your will,'

I heard a beep-beep sound like a truck backing up. I called for help but no response. I could hear people talking on walkie-talkie, so I called out again & again. But still nothing.

Finally someone shouted back: Hello is somebody there?
"Yes, help me, my name is Genelle.
I could see a bit of daylight coming through a crack, so I stuck my hand through it. 'Can you see my hand? I yelled.
No!
I yelled again as I stretched my hand a far as I could.
But they still cannot find me. I lost consciousness.
When I woke, I could hear people above.
I prayed "Please God show me a miracle now."

I tried yelling again, but they still no one can locate me. So I stretched my hand as far as I could & this time someone grabbed it.
"Genelle, I've got you! You are going to be alright. My name is Paul. I won't let go of your hand until they got you out."

"Oh thank you God! Finally someone has found me. I tried to see who it was but I couldn't make out a face. Paul kept telling me I would be all right & I believed him. I kept his name in my head because I wanted to meet him when I got out to thank him.

I could hear men moving steel & concrete above. Finally 2 men took hold of my shoulders and Paul let go of my hand. They put me on a stretcher and then passed me hand to hand up & down a long line of people. I saw them all lining the path, everyone clapping.

Out of the 15 who had tried to escape, only 2 made it out.
I was the last survivor to be pulled out.

Sometimes I wonder about Paul, the man who held my hands and calmed me when I thought I couldn't go on. After I got out of hospital, a reporter interviewed me along with some of the men who rescued me. When I asked about Paul, they seemed puzzled.

"There's no one named Paul on our team." One of them assured me. But... "Someone was holding my hand for at least 20 minutes when you were digging me out. He told me his name was Paul. I kept reminding myself of his name because I wanted to thank him."
"I'm sorry, but nobody was holding your hand when we were removing the rubble.

Though my story had been told on Oprah, CNN, Guideposts & Time magazines, no one named Paul has ever stepped forward to take credit for rescuing me that day. But I know that Paul was God's answer to my prayer for a miracle, a messenger of his love in the midst of my pain."

yeah. had Y-Acts for the past week. super tiring. but super ... rewarding and fulfilling:D
i did learn to play the harmonica, and did learn to speak a bit of malay...and one line of tamil:D i also talked to lots of pple i don't know...found out a bit more about my Toa Payoh neighbourhood, exchanged email address with someone called Lisa from London (who said she's going to send me lots of jokes), met someone from Mauritius, explained the education system to someone from Australia and made friends with two pple from Indonesia --- Maria and Feethlee (dunno how to spell). quite a lot of stuff actually...the X-Jammers will know it:) i think the Y-Acts programme was really a success... during the campfire when all of us shared, think all of us really have these memories imprinted in our minds.. an event which truely challenged our limits (even showed us that we can go beyond them), caused us to reflect and change and shone forth the altruistic spirit in us. whoa. it can be compared to OBS:D yeah.
yeah! christmas service today! my first ever! super cool! hahaha. the ENTIRE auditorium was transformed...lights hung here and there, the stage was decorated and the play was superb. very cool acting! 'cos the pple weren't afraid of performing:D very amusing as well... pple kept laughing. we sang christmas songs, pop version!
what was even better was that you could really feel God's love and the joy of having Him in our lives. whoa once more.
we also celebrated Jun Ting's birthday:D heh. let me affirm her here, though i know she won't see this... yup. As Jie Yun has mentioned.. JT's a person who really shows her love quietly. like she won't deliberately tell you 'I love all of you!' and she doesn't go around hugging people...but you just can feel that she loves you. in her quiet manner, she'll buy stuff for you... as her sheep, i've gotten quite a lot of things. i remember that i went through quite a lot of moments in my life, with her there, guiding, supporting, teaching. i trust her a lot too...lots of stuff i dun bare to pple, but she's really someone you can trust. can really sense her heart for people as well:) she's also someone who's faithful with what she has, and she emphasizes a lot on the leaders are there to serve...most often, can sense God's love through her...i'm very thankful to have her as my shepherd. i'm still need to grow a lot spiritually, and i've got quite a lot to learn from her:) with God's strength, she is ren2 xiao3 li4 liang4 da4. hahaa:D
yup. anyway. that's all:D got the 2004 roster a few days ago. i'm serving on my birthday. wheeee~:D

Tuesday, December 16, 2003

yeah!:D back from student camp!:D it rocks! hahaha:D first of all, the bunk was quite nice:D actually got my own bed, aircon, bathroom, toilet, cupboard, the works:D quite a nice room. carpeted somemore. hhaa:) praise and worship was great:D hahaha:) the youth pple were quite enthu. but so were we! we're divided into different families and houses. i'm in the house kilohana (hawaiian for excellence) and family 2:D first day games were relatively mild. just had a not-so-nice part about sucking up different sauces (poor ziwei sucked up vinegar, someone else had chilli water) and transferring it:D hahaha:) teaching was inspirational:D since it's an excellent camp, it's of course, about excellence:D haha.
second day was full of teachings and workshops:D but the teachings were again, super inspiring. i love sermons and church teachings, 'cos the stuff apply to your life and it's brought across in a humorous, yet impactful way. we had jubilee night on the second day too:D rocks!
third day was mega games day! cheered till a few of us had not much of a voice left (ziwei was speaking in a falsetto until she bathed, then her voice came back a bit. i couldn't sing at all and went to scare xinyi with a deep voice. lol) kilohana got the most creative prize (judging from cheers and our mascot:D)! anyway. for the whole of the third day for mega games, we were just plodding around in mud and more mud... hah. we won all the station games we went to, got quite a lot of weapon cards:D
third day was also global connection night ('cos we had international delegates from other Hope churches, eg, Germany, Europe, Malaysia, Taipei...) 67 of them in all (is the number right?) whereby skits were put up. the first skit by the NE group from Youth was quite impactful. relatively professional. lots of effects used. u won't be able to forget it so soon. think they did rather well. our UNI district did well too!:D we touched more on the comedy aspect, but the last section was quite touching, spoke to a part inside of me.
we also celebrated Jason's belated birthday on sat night:D (third day...haha) or rather, should i say morning. a very inspiring leader, someone who really takes the effort to know his people, someone whom u can really feel his love for Jesus and through his love for Jesus, a cultivated increased love for the people around him as well:) a person of excellence as well. glad to know him:)
poor shepherd wanted to talk to me and huichun:D to catch-up a bit...but i think we ended the celebration too late (around 3+am). heh. i really appreciate my shepherd. shy to tell her. hahaha:D
slept at 4.30+am in the end. woke at 8.30am. quite tired, what with the lack of sleep from previous days. but i got reminded of one of the teachings, got reminded of what God has inspired me with, got reminded that i can lean on His strength, and just clung unto Him to get up and do stuff:D
yup. had Y-Acts, organised by the gen-acts club today:D rather cool:D met at Yishun Safra and all...currently have Adeline (primary school classmate!), Eng Hao (he's from my primary school too, can you believe it?), Eunice (from Bendemeer Sec, nice girl!:D she was in NPCC. going to TJ), Freedy (guy who looks perpectually confused), Hui Chun (yeah!), Joanna (ade's fren!:D my sister!) and me inside. we're called the X-Jameeah!:D and we're the X-Jammers! and we're always X-Jamming. hah. think our cip project's quite cool too:D
we played some get-to-know-u games. wah. the things we did still amazes me. we had frogs in our games, water bombs, balloons, lots of water and mud. we had to crawl from one station (in the field!) to another and back-crawl from another station to another (*faints*) very fun!:D really a time of bonding:D
can't wait to do the project:D i'm going to learn the harmonica and learn to sing songs in canto, hokkien, tamil and malay! O_o"

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth $19 million.
It depends on whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Venus Williams' hands is a championship winning.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands because...
It depends whose hands it's in.
ooof. it's camp tmr and i haven't finished packing my bag:( think i'm going to fall asleep in the middle of the day or something similar to that:) oh! just realised that i'll see jessie:D hahaha:) haven't seen her in quite a while. wonder who else i'll see.
i wonder if i can sneak back home too. welllll...

Wednesday, December 10, 2003

*grInz* haven't updated for some time:) been busy. hahaha:)
i'm finally having my own room...after like, 17 and 3/4 yrs. superb:D went around choosing furniture (didn't noe furniture can be so expensive..).
bought a new ... watyamycallit? sweater? hmmm. jacket? someone tell me the difference between these two...i've never seemed to be able to differentiate and grasp the main difference between these two articles of clothing. nice and thick.
camp's tomorrow! and i haven't finished packing, neither have i finished clearing up the room. eekz. i should try to finish everything today...and perhaps bring something to camp to study during free time as well:D is there going to be free time? haha.
ah wellz. life's going to be quite...happening:D student camp, y-acts, then christmas!:D and the parties before christmas!:D going to be so fun! wheee~

sleepy. think i should start developing a fixed time to wake up and sleep once again. my whole body feels warped. not sleepy, yet sleepy:P not exactly very productive, yah?:D

Friday, December 05, 2003

i have a sudden urge to spout out intelligible answers to several thought-provoking questions in life, or to express my sincere opinions to various aspects in life. possibly about religions (since i've always dealt with this aspect), in relationships or even in the behaviour of pple. my topics never change, uh?:)
but somehow or another, upon second thoughts, the thought-provoking qns don't seem to be so thought-provoking afterall...since there're verses in the bible to support them. wellwell.
i can still share with u my personal opinions about stuff though:)
right now. i'm sleepy. and hungry. and my brain cells are void of new electrons that's to be transported along the neurons. and all that i wish to do now is to talk to Jesus.
yeah well:D being nutty. i've just settled upon the realisation that i don't have archives and that people have been asking about my archives...yah well. i can't seem to have archives, that's the prob:D so i've decided to manually set up my archives. hahaha:D will be changing the months of my archives every month or something:) for ur viewing pleasures, pple. just in case u get bored with using the net:D

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning.
The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait so long to get our coffee."
The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee."
Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee."
Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me.
So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says: "HEBREWS"
ah. changed my blog template on impulse. adding stuff to it once more.
i know there're a few probs to fix, like my swirling thing is gone, the ad's covering my poor page (asking for help on that, trying to get it ad-less...see if the person wants to help. hehe)
any other probs u spot, just write it in my guestbook:D
haha. just read this.
During filming in a remote area of Italy earlier this year for the controversial Mel Gibson film "The Passion of Christ," the actor who portrays Jesus was struck during a lightning storm, according to an October report in the trade paper Variety. Also struck was assistant director Jan Michelini, who had been struck by lightning at a previous shoot for the film, in Matera, Italy. None of the strikes created a serious injury. The film's portrayals of Christ and of Jews are expected to make it extremely controversial.

Take the 100 Acre Personality Quiz!

i'm a pooh. just like 1/3 of everyone else who is a pooh:D

Sunday, November 30, 2003

yes. after some pondering, i've decided on a few resolutions to be implemented soon. like tomorrow?

1) do a tutorial per day about SATs. simply because i've been neglecting it and since everyone's been talking about it, i figured i might as well start too.

2) spend sparingly. very broke:D (presents and lost money and all that)

3) eat less. no more buffets and snack and snacks and more snacks for me.

4) start clearing up my room:D will be updating my progess...think it'll be one of the reasons to keep me going. hahahah:D

5) expound on the wonders of walking. daily. hahaha:D maybe i'll go swim again. though swimming does cause my hair texture to deteriorate:P

yup:D the other resolutions will be between God and me:D shall update about the success (yes! success!) of my resolutions next time:D
*grInz*
no more tutoring...gracious. i do wonder how teachers survive teaching them...it's positively more exhausting than anything i've done before:D being a receptionist is much less tiring:D
went to the soup spoon with stephyesterday:D yummilicious! went out with qing and fungi in the evening:D quite amusing...we walked around. bummed around. sat around. ate around. talked around.
ohoh! saw august and his girlfriend! hahaha:D and saw weilin too!:D she sounded quite different...upon telling her that she sounded like a mixture of meizhen and sam, she found it an insult (jokingly) and said 'thanks ahz. i haven't seen you for a while and when i see you, you insult me' *grInz* i told her that's my way of greeting people:D
anyway, today's WEEZI's BIRTHDAY! anyone who hasn't done so must wish WEEZI a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:D u're also welcomed to remind her that in a few months it'll be mine.
watched Matrix with huiyuan, huichun and jits at ang mo kio min house today:D stupid me have always thought it's ang mo kio main house. ah well. i love matrix! hahaha:D anyway, we kinda overshot and had a short time to buy dinner and rush to sub-d meet:D
sub-d meet was quite amusing...dunno why everyone's so excited to see everyone else:D anyway, sheralyn's hair has suddenly turned half a shade lighter at the top..hhaa:D felt like eons since the last sub-d meet, turns out that it was only 2 weeks ago. seems like we miss each other, yah?:D oof. i saw jessie too! when i was rushing to sub-d:D she went 'xinying!' then i went 'jessie!' then she went 'ah! late ahz!' then i went 'hehehehehe!bye!'
-make it last forever, friendship never ends'

Friday, November 28, 2003

i didn't have a very nice dream last night...of all strange things to dream about...i dreamt that there was this teacher who caught her students just to eat them up..mostly males (she's surprisingly nicer to females)then i remembered i was amongst a few who were caught...and we were pleading with her not to kill us and she was just nonchalent...then the guys were pleading too...then somehow the next scene was of all of us standing, facing the sky and singing to God, somehow with the knowledge that if we sing passionately, we will all not be eaten:D
yeah well. i'm supposed to go bathe now. shall update what happened to me later:D

Thursday, November 27, 2003

i feel tired. poofed out. oooooooooooofffffffff.
tutoring the kids seem to be more and more tiring day by day...especially when the students seem to be increasing in number. hahaha:) got to know this girl,genevieve on wed..'cos she was waiting for her social service centre to open at 1pm, then i decided to stay outside and do some stuff before going for shepherding, so i decided to accompany her:) talked a bit...got to know the mentality of the students in CHIJ something about lady of the nativity or something, not sure... yup:) got to know the area a bit more too. at least i could walk from hougang mall to the sch this morning:D yeah!
felt like a nanny today...hahaha:D promised her to accompany her once more today, then we went to huiyuan's house, then i said i'll follow her back to her sch, just to make sure she doesn't get lost or something...and then i had to walk her home...which is past hougang mall, 3/4 way across some neighbourhood thing, which caused me to emerge super near punggol park is. ah wellz. long way to walk. quite exhausted:) but okay i guess...since i'm only seeing them for the last day tmr:)
anyway, i think wat chiew said was quite true, we're quite pampered down there:D getting soon kueh and curry puffs and today, roti prata for breakfast. muahahaha:D
btw, if u all are looking forward to keeping a pet free-of-charge and easy to take care of, you can try considering weavers:D 'cos this girl, josephine, is currently breeding weavers and they seem quite harmless, just rather small (u've gotta be careful not to squash them:D)
ah. tired. still got stuff not done. looking forward to the meeting with God though:D

Tuesday, November 25, 2003

i've been absorbing myself in the colourful world within the tv screen:D starting from last night, i decided to amuse myself by watching a musical on arts central called 'D'elisir D'amore'. frankly speaking i have no idea what it means...all that i can guess is that it could mean 'the elizir of love' wait...elizir looks a bit weird. looks like it's of a wrong spelling. ah well. hahaha. it's Italian! so cool! oh. it's really the wrong spelling. right spelling is 'the elixir of love' wah! i translated the thing correctly! and found a website for it:D go to the 'the elixir of love'
today...i watched the cartoon 'a monkey's tale' ...it's about two tribes of monkeys who didn't trust each other:D westlife sang the theme song...and it's actually quite interesting, talking about how 'we were two, now we are one' you can get the song lyrics from here:D and know more about the movie here:D
i also watched 'ben xiao hai'...think it's english name is 'broken heart' or something similar:D...was quite an...interesting(?) movie. ah wellz.
that's about all. hahaha:D will be a more outside day tmr:D hopefully.

hohoho:D had a major matrix/philo/'i-think-therefore-i-am'/logic discussion with huichun and huiyuan (two huis!:D) at nus arts fac canteen today. hahahaa:) quite interesting:D we made a lot of lame comments, looked at huichun's interesting logic stuff and talked a bit here and there about stuff. i kept persuading them to watch matrix:D we're watching matrix next week! (i think). now the main thing is, does anyone has the matrix vcds?:D:D:D:D:D hehehehe. btw, me and hui yuan has decided to take the level 2000 paper (is that what it's called???) for philo instead of the 1000 one...'cos the 1000 one seems harder to us than the 2000 one. ah well:)
anyway, was buying sugar-coated peanuts outside the university hall when i realised that the packet wouldn't fall out. then i decided to buy another packet but the latter packet didn't fall out as well...huiyuan decided to buy the third packet and in the end both the second and third packet fell out. ah wellz. so in the end i got two packets of sugarcoated peanuts and huiyuan (who didn't wanna eat them originally) had to eat them too. hahaha:D got a bit sick after i ate so many peanuts. won't be eating them again anytime soon (i hope)
oh gracious. i dun recognise qian ru anymore. i can only try to figure out which one she is in the photo:( how disastrous. i mean like, i can easily point out adeline, suatying, yuanling, linda, mingxian, jerome, jolene(both tan and goh), sizhen, liyu, panghao, yvonne, renna, kimhong, xiangjun, huishan...blah blah quite easily...but qian ru! her face changed quite a tad.
oh. i just realised. she's at AJ!!! hahaha:D and she knows... CENWEI!!! *faints* i do believe cenwei is steph's fren (yes? no?) wellus wellus wellus.

a few blessings to share here and there:D
thank God that mum allowed me to go to retreat without any protests or exclamations and what-nots:D hahaha:) been prayin' and prayin' 'cos normally mum will put up a huge fuss about sleepovers and what-nots. whew. this time she just calmly asked me some qns and said 'okay':) then she asked me about what's the name of my church and all that. we talked till 1.30am! hahhaa:)
and thankfully meixue was at the hostel to pass money to lijia so i dun have to travel down to VS hostel just to pass $15 from the club fund to her. saved me quite a lot of time:) time used for other purposes:D
kimchun just went 'hug jason' and asked me to guess a name and a surname. ehz. wells. anyway, it unscrambles to form 'joshua ng'...who else but our dear sub-d leader:D
ah. everyone wants to have a gathering. no one seems to be properly organising it. i think i'm supposed to help in 2, organise 2, and what have i done? nothing:( better sort them out before this friday!:D yahoooooooo!~:D
It was written by an 8-year-old, Danny Dutton of Chula Vista, CA, for his third-grade homework assignment. The assignment was to explain God. Wonder if any of us could do as well?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXPLAIN GOD
One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way He doesn't have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.
God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this.
God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going over your Mom and Dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.
Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church.
Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and people finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind, like His Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said "O.K."
His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore. He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. Like
a secretary, only more important. You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.
You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God. Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway.
If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.
But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you. I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases. And...that's why I believe in God.
*grInz*
i can't wait for next week! will be quite a lot of stuff coming up:D i think:)
i can't wait for this sunday's service as well:) got some new stuff:) hahahaha:)
our group project file ended up so thick that we could hardly squeeze everything in:) it was a 3-inch file:) *beam* and we had lots of dividers...and lots of pages:) i'm so proud of my group!
though i felt a tad guilty having to leave halfway through mr chan's checking of our file 'cos there was caregroup:) yeah!:D
Wednesday, November 12, 2003
*grInz* i find it quite amusing to catch up with somebody i haven't seen or talked to for 2 years+...yes. i'm still referring to choo:) was wondering why she managed to reply so fast ('cos she's an instructor and all that), then she replied saying that she's having a residential course now...so there's a laptop and all, but can't type for long 'cos there's still work to do:) but she said 'keep in touch!' i will! superbly interesting. actually got triggered off to type to her 'cos of the sudden reminder of some stuff she said when i saw mabel sitting at the comp beside me doing pw on tuesday... yup.
got a melancholic revival of emotions just now when i saw this song on someone's blog (do u wanna keep it personal?)
"If only through heaven's eyes"-N'Sync
I never thought you were a fairweather friend
You never let me down, you're true to the end
You're in the darkest hour, when all was lost
Somehow you left the light on
You faced the wrong and showed the world a thing or two
Stood up for me, for you
And you should know
Some say it wasn't worth the things we went through
I say it ain't worth losing you
I hope you know how much you've changed all our lives
Someday you'll see if only through heaven's eyes
I still remember the things that you said
I keep your words alive I could never forget
Cause in the final hour you made me proud
So proud that I could know you
You told the world its time that they believed in you
You stood for right and truth
And you should know
Some say it wasn't worth the things we went through
I say it ain't worth losing you
I hope you know how much you've changed all our lives
Someday you'll see if only through heaven's eyes
Only through heaven's eyes...
And so we can't forget
We've got to keep remembering them all
The ones who took the fall
They did it for us all
And we should learn from it
Stand up if you believe in it
You've got to face the world... be strong
Some say it wasn't worth the things we went through
I say it ain't worth losing you
I hope you know how much you've changed all our lives
Someday you'll see if only through heaven's eyes
{repeat}
think this song means quite a lot to me 'cos my closest friends(?:) have used it before...i can still remember the first time i heard it in fungi's room, with no one else but me and the song, it was so nice!well:) think this can be our song? the song of friends:D the song of nygep? i dunno:)
*grInz* to further explain what i said about alywin..'cos the melancholic/sad/remembering mood was so nicely established, until his normal, a bit chirpy voice popped into the mood and nicely burst it completely. yup:D that's what i mean:)
hahaa. for the second half of doing the gpf, we did some of the group stuff, then all of us got addicted to isketch and wouldn't stop playing it:D *grInz* then we were all laughing like mad and going crazy trying to figure out the words...in the end, there were only the four of us in the comp lab. hahaha:)
watched the mtv of 'me against the music' by britney in collaboration with madonna today...no wonder they said that it was rather... *coughcough*. beat's not bad though, kinda drums into ur head...but the scenes on the mtv does encourage some stuff.
-all my people on the floor, let me see you dance-
wanted to say that OP was quite blessed today as well:) 'cos during the qn and answer section, the person actually asked me this qn
'why do you think the government implemented the policy? Do you think education would have been enough?'
and i actually was quite stumbled...'cos i mean like. duh the government implemented it to ensure that there is a supply of organs. hahaha:) then somehow or another, some part about how people may not act out what they listen..that kinda stuff, appeared in my mind. and i merely babbled on about it:) hahaa:)
talking to xinyi just now, i'm really thankful for her to be sent into my life, for sharing her daily encounters with God and encouraging me in the same time. i really thank God for sending me to Hope as well:) 'cos i think i may not have grown should i have accepted Christ earlier. God has His timing:) and i thank God for His people...who are so accepting and loving:)
i was looking at the sky in the evening whilst i was at the corridor walking back home and i saw such soft wisps of clouds in the sky. can't help marvelling at them:) and i got reminded of what rachel said before. indeed. i can't help marvelling at the creator of these marvels in life as well:)
yeah! pw op is officially over:) it was relatively okay, i guess...except that i had to speak rather fast so as to be able to cover all the contents within the things i have to cover:) steph's group's intro was quite interesting, and set a sentimental mood, but alywin kinda spoiled it once he started speaking. in my opinion anyway.
patricia's birthday today, must wish her happy birthday!:D surprisingly, patricia's birthday's the same as nicole's sec best friend's birthday:)
went to parkway to eat and saw two actors from channel 8...the MC king guy and some older person i forgot the name of:) then...we went to yoshinoya 'cos pat wanted to buy a cookie, and we saw Mr Boy, Mr Toh and some other jolly teacher whcih i dunno the name of:) hahaha. but serene and pat didn't see them and wanted verification. proof. hahha:) so, when we saw them at the bus-stop from the other side of the road, and a bus was coming, serene started to take off and shouted 'leslie!' on the bridge. we ran to catch up with them. quite amusing:D
and due to the fact that we can't tell the teachers that there's a back-gate which we can get into school by, we had to pretend to love looking at the structure of a flower...hahaha:) mr toh walked past and seriously believed us when we said we're interested in plant bio. *grInz*
mr boy says he has never seen joseph before...must intro them next time!:D *beamz* doing gpf now...hopefully it'll get us a good grade!
Tuesday, November 11, 2003
in school doing pw once more...pat, jac and serene are going mad behind my back. just saw desiree:D never knew she's from cedar...haha.
Monday, November 10, 2003
anyway, today was pw day too:) went back to school 'cos mr chan wanted to talk to the whole class about the gpf (group project file):) was 15 mins late (uh-oh), then turns out that serene was the only one of my group there:D hahahaha:) nice jacko-mama saw that i forgot to bring my shou ces home yesterday and brought in today for me:D *grInz* she nearly fainted when i said i wanted to throw them away. hahahaa:) went a little nutty doing stuff around, reading pat's amusing typed out minutes (Jac: does oral contraception encourage infedelity? All: (in unison) no!!!) which i thought sounded like a script:) and choosing colours for dividers for individual sections:) hahaha:)
we went to siglap to eat...tried teh bing (iced milk tea...now it sounds like bubble tea) there...very fulling! ate lor mee, which was not bad except that the uncle added too much vinegar. hahaha:) went a bit crazy when pat bought drinks at 7-eleven. you know the machine that dispenses soft drinks and there's music at the same time? pat was deliberately filling up the drinks little by little so that she can listen to the music and comment on them. hahaha:) guy at the counter was quite amused...he grinned at us when we started laughing like nuts and went out of the store.
continued with pw for the rest of the day:) had a nice time today as well:) all of us were super efficient. hahahaha:) meeting tomorrow once more:) another wacky day perhaps?
was happily typing away about wenjiang's birthday when the comp suddenly went mad and black and decided to cause internet explorer to be numb towards my commands and the system to turn a deaf ear towards what i click:D hehehe:) so i had to restart the system. ah well:)
anyway, as i was saying, i've been doing pw these days:D printed out pw stuff yesterday morning till 11am...would have been late for service if i haven't decided to take a taxi down:) reached at 11.15am:D only took 15 mins!
service was refreshing and gave me an new experience:) actually, i was reflecting a bit about my attitude towards God on sat night...then i decided that i need to change a bit, so sunday service was quite a new experience in the case that for the first time, worship seems much much more joyful and uplifting to me than praise. felt much closer to Him:)
celebrated wenjiang's birthday in the afternoon:D the whole buncha us were huddled together in the Asia room. Shu wen joined us too!:D we had a delightful time of affirming him (and suaning him. hahaha:) not really lahz...'cos he's quite corny, then actually got 2 grps bought corn for him. well.) we were quite worried that the sprinklers might by set off when we lighted the candle for his cake, but nothing happened:D hehehe:)
actually, can really see wenjiang's heart for his people and the vision:)
and in the room, while everyone was together and sharing, i can't help but feel the love that's spread about once more:) knowing that all of us belong in the same family, the same vision, relatively selfless people:) all of us growing together, helping, sharing truthfully about aspects in our lives - the the good, the not-so-good, the ugly and the ugliest. knowing that all of us love Him together as well:) ah.
anyway, i had pw afterwards:) which lasted until 10pm at jac's house with jac, serene, jac's family and husky the dog:D *grInz* quite an amusing time. pastor prakich was right...u see a person truely in his/her house:)
dad came to pick me up at night..he only appeared 30 mins after he said he's reaching pasir ris:D mum says they've been circling around and round and can't find the place. hahaha:) then we took another 20mins to try to figure out how to get out of pasir ris to tampines, then to the PIE, then to the CTE:) very funny. kinda lost inside there:)
Saturday, November 08, 2003
eating pasta now:D large shells swimming in lotsa sauce. yummy. pasta simply cannot survive without lots and lots of sauce:) i'm in food heaven~!
had chinese AOs today..no inspiration for chinese compo...think i kinda peaked in inspiration for mock paper. ah wellz. too bad then. then the paper itself, nothing we learned came out (except for one miserable cheng yu)...hehehe:D
went for the ecclesiology seminar...was quite doubtful unto what i'm supposed to do, where it is and everything...xinyi assured me that it's at nexus. hahaha:D went there, then the counter person enthusiastically said hi (quite amusing)...and just basically helped me from there. then i went in and sat at one of the green seats until xinyi came, and eventually jason. saw rachel and freddy too:D (only after a long while though... hehehe:)
pastor prakich, the pastor who was teaching us, was not exactly what one considers as charismatic...but he's got very firm principles (and a sense of humour as well) that can really be seen. he's also got a spirit of deacon, always wanting to serve, to do more for the kingdom of God...he was telling us about how his regional pastors will try to trick him into resting and all that. quite amusing:)
i thought teaching was quite...inspiring:D i dunno why...but i felt terribly motivated after the seminar. hahahaha:) the 'women in ministry' did help to clear out some doubts about verses in the bible. strange how greek words can portray some stuff differently from english words even when they seem similar:)
saw fungi today when i went to ps to eat with xinyi and jason...also saw jieyu, javin, yongxiang and lots of vs guys in ps upon a second trip to ps:D
lost my buspass...hopefully i dropped it in nexus:)
Thursday, November 06, 2003
ooooof. i feel zoned out. hahaha:D been studying chinese half of the day. sleepy. tomorrow, and it'll be over (i hope)
had a pw op rehearsal on wed afternoon which went quite well:) (considering that it's our first ever time presenting)...mr chan said that all of us just need to control our fidgeting and make the statements shorter:D yeah! content was okay...then speech was okay...actions were okay:) guess to get an EE, we'll need to practice in front of the mirror all day:D
yup. anyway, joined the gep alumni:) quite cool...'cos we'll be like the first group of pple to join:D hey pple! all of u must join k? something to remind us of the sec school yrs we spent. to link us to other pple too.
had shepherding this morning:) we ate the traditional breakfast of toast and half-boiled egg and a drink:D quite interesting...'cos both of us haven't eaten it for a long time:) delightful:)
ohoho. found out that the beads place at toa payoh is selling 50 entensions for only $2! (the thing to put the beads on) so much cheaper than the one we bought at orchard (20 for around $2?) they have a lot of crystals too! all different colours! corinne! we must buy from there!:D
feeling sleepy. doing pw:( such a day should be spent at home cuddled up with a good book, or by the beach enjoying the breeze and the company, or hiking up a mountain, or swimming in the pool, or preparing for a drama...and not being cooped up in the sun-less comp lab doing pw. (and typing this)
am i mumbling and grumbling? *grInz* nopez. i'm just amusing myself as i type this out. haven't touched powerpoint for a relatively long time...effects now are quite advanced:) better looking too:D
'You are cordially invited to Perfect 10 98.7fm & COCA-COLA Party-In-The-Park on 14-Nov Fri, 7.30pm @Fort Canning Green. See U!' ----- party in the park sounds like this concert that darren hayes was in last time...hahaha:)
chinese today wasn't very nice either...teacher just went on and on and on and on and on... ah well.
Monday, November 03, 2003
i don't feel like sleeeeepppping. hahaha:) quite into holiday mood...which is bad. 'cos there's chinese this friday! *gasp* yeah well. doing pw in the meantime too. i feel as if i know more about the Catholic Church or feminism with the Pill more than i know anything about biology, maths, chemistry or economics. oh dear.
currently on friendster...didn't want to open an account 'cos i was afraid i'll get addicted to it. ah well. nvm. i got a bit too tired of seeing the same invitation with different names appearing in my inbox day by day.
nothing much to update about. 'cept that chinese lessons are not particularly very fun, lectures are okay... (though the attendence was 'wonderful') and that i miss PE:)
Saturday, November 01, 2003
hmmm:) had chinese lessons today... saw yuanling early in the morning at the bus-stop...didn't even know she lives near me:D she's in tj now... derek's band junior. hahaha:)
went to amk main house with steph after chinese...interestingly, no one was in the house:) jason had to take a cab down to open the door for us. hahhaa:) yup! me, huichun and steph cooked spaghetti! sauce of mushroom with herbs taste yummy:D then we watched 'matilda':) then ziwei came, we all talked...and then... she revealed that she has clay aiken in her discman!:D aaaaahhhh!:D:D:D
anyway. had unit pm at 3pm:) caught up a bit with the brothers' lives:) Jason shared something quite ...(how to say..) solemn, touching on the fundamentals:) hmm.
anyway. something i saw online:)
"Love spreads the gospel with ease.We spread the gospel by living it.
If communities were actually living the Gospel we would be living in
peace and harmony and goodwill,filled with grace and mercy."
well:)
'cos he doesn't want the people to know he's a teacher. hmmmm:)
had shepherding today:) it's always good to talk to junting:) thankful for my shepherd:)
still missing clover:) like this morning when i woke up and want to go pat clover's head, then i realised she's not there anymore...and after i come back home i'll always go and announce my presence to her, i can't do that anymore either. mum asked me if i want to buy another one...i told her not yet. ('cos i threw away the cage, the water bottle, the wheel... gotta buy new ones:). well.
lotsa changes coming up...
school's decided to start the house system next yr 'cos there's going to be the odd combinations in 2006. what with 3 H2s and 1 H1 being the minimum... whole messy business which i dun quite grasp...ah well:) we get to choose the house names since we're the first batch to have this change!:D some teacher suggested Gem, ruby... mrs chan suggested superman, batman... and thong kheng was talking in class about what would guys feel being in a house called Aphrodite (goddess of love?)... dominique suggested gucci, prada (hahha!) lynette suggested our OG names (special meaning) and i was thinking about the colours of the rainbow:)
another change came about just now...my dear hamster clover died at 10pm. dun think i'll quite forget the last few moments spent with her. buried her just now... ah well:(
heart's lighter now though. was singing songs to God just now...He truly is my pillar of strength when i am weak.
-who makes the sun light up my shadows
when the darkness tries to follow me-
*grInz* today was a day of drifting about:) (phrase suggested by Mr Lim) went through the lectures, tutorials... pace set by teachers are rather slow these days:) our class seems to be quite hyper during mr toh's class though. hahaha:) told him that since our class is the first official class he took, and since he's not teaching us next year, then maybe he can take us out to eat:D sort of as a last gathering. suggestion placed forwards included marche's (lynnette suggested it!):D i told him we can all go and eat, then pretend to lose the card, then we'll only need to pay $100:D *hehehe*
-who makes the air that brings me life
so i can breathe the love that's given to me-
feels this urge to apply to SMU for uni courses next time instead of our dear traditional NUS... 'cos the representative from SMU was so upbeat about life and in describing the college and what-nots about everyone will get a chance to go on an exchange programme and that sometimes, we have to love what we do:) cliched stuff but in comparison with what the other people said, it seemed more interesting:) i want to do bio!
-who makes the waters of my sorrow part
and leads the gladness into my heart-
cca's gradually starting once more:) discussing the details of hai cheng tomorrow:) can just imagine the amount of work we need to do for next year:D doing a production all by ourselves :D the work of 20+ people:D can we make it?:D yup!
-who makes the river runs that wash away
and cleans my soul to make a new start-
anyway, f.y.i, the song that has been running through this post is called 'You' by Jaci Valasquez:) quite a nice song:) liked it a lot when i was in sec4:) saw it again recently, like it even more now:D
-You make everything good, everything wonderful
You grace my days and heaven fills my view
let's forever sing
You make everything pure, everything beautiful
You make me see the only thing that's true
it's You-
Tuesday, October 28, 2003
oooh... i haven't updated for ... 4 days:)
ah wellz.
dun seem to have much fate with teachers and marks these days...there's been a severe mis-communication between me and the chinese teacher. 'cos my chinese marks were wrongly stated and i told mr chan, then mr chan told the chinese teacher. then the chinese teacher came to find me in the morning and proceeded to reprimand me for not checking the marks properly and what-nots. the funny thing is that i don't remember checking the marks at all:)
then during break she saw me near the toilet, then she started to ask in a very irritated voice where my answer scripts are and then she said that she has asked someone to tell me to pass it to her quickly (i didn't receive that message either)...then she accused me of skipping lessons and what-nots and didn't believe me when i said i attended every lesson after the promos ( i mean like, why should i skip? it's my best sub:P)
ah well. i admit i didn't really behave in an biblical manner (heh). hating to be accused (this is one of my two hates:( ), i retorted back that i didn't skip lessons and what-nots and that all the classmates can vouch for me and that i really didn't get a chance to check my marks. think i got a little emotional:P (really really dislike people accusing me of something i didn't do). trying to sing 'there is joy in the Lord' in my heart didn't seem to lower my emotions. (but it did cause me to remember to soften my tone)
was sitting in the general office waiting for someone (:D) when i just took out the book with all the teachings and happened to turn to the teaching on humility. then kinda recalled that proverbs 12:16 stated that 'A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult'. felt like a fool then. kinda shows some hidden aspects of my character i've gotta edit. ah well:D better to see it now than later:)
anyway, after checking with juncheng and peilee, it turns out they checked the results immediately after getting back the bio results. and on that day, after the bio results, me, steph and lydia went to talk to mr basil chan...and when we went for chinese lessons, everyone had finished and were already nicely seated. that's why we didn't get to check our results:) serious case of miscommunication. so coincidental too.
we saw Mr Hannis(nyjc econs lecturer:D) today! hahaha:)
'cos VJ had a friendly soccer match against RJ today, then OVA (we guess that it stands for Old Victorians Association) had a friendly soccer match against ORA (Old Rafflesians Association) too:D and apparently Mr Hannis was from RJ. hahha:) we called him and he saw us and waved to us.
OVA against ORA was quite amusing 'cos there're actually more people walking about than running...then Mr Tan was at the side commenting that they can't run anymore and what-nots. quite amusing:D Mr Seet played too! he's like...the most enthusiastic player already, but the ball doesn't seem to have much affinity with him:D hehe.
-still i would wanna be
someone who'd answer to me
someone, who sees like a child, gives like a saint, feels like an angel
nevermind the broken wings and
speaks like a picture, cries like the rain, shines like the star
as long as the fire remains-
those lyrics came from the song 'someone' by stephanie sun:)
hahaha:D feeling very happy. had some peace and quiet just now...whole house to myself! family's at some wedding dinner somewhere:) i'd much rather have the whole house to myself than the wedding dinner. extremely rare chance. haha:)
the night seems to be still young. i shall attempt vectors tutorial 2 without any notes. have a nice day:D
ah!:) had an inspiring testimony shared by Mr Lim today:D *grInz*
he had 236 for PSLE...then came into VJ...then got only 3 Os and a pass for his midyears...then he thought to himself 'hmm. not very good.' so he studied EXTRA HARD and then at the end of the year, he got A,A,B,B. took the S papers for maths and chem, following yr prelims, his S papers got a merit and a fail...*grInz*...BUT, at A levels, he got 4As and 2 distinctions. hahaha:)
now...if he, all of us can too!:D so, shall work EXTRA HARD from now on:) yup. oh forgot to mention. He was a basketball player, got the Colours award, learnt guitar too, had a girlfriend during then and is a christian too:D
rather amazing how his grades jumped SO MUCh. gracious. whole class was terribly amazed and kinda in awe. hahaha:) 'cos he doesn't look like that type of person:)
i guess one never knows what one can do with God's strength behind him:D
